Support for Lone Rock levy

April 21, 2020 by Guest Post

By Paula Short, Stevensville

I write to encourage my fellow Lone Rock School District residents to support the tax-neutral Lone Rock levy.

We are currently living in uncertain times, but it is especially now that we see the pivotal role of Lone Rock School District in our community. For evidence of this, one need only look to the daily breakfast/lunch deliveries for each child in the district, the adaptation of curriculum to enable our children to continue to make academic progress from home, the weekly homework swaps and the phone calls and updates that attempt to offer support through the incredible disruption from coronavirus. Especially in an unincorporated, rural area such as ours, the school is an important hub for education, events and community connection.

A vote for the levy is to agree to continue to pay the same amount on your tax bill, but instead of those funds going to the middle school building bond, which has been paid in full, the money now becomes available for other critical needs in the district, including safety upgrades, curricular investments and operational needs.

Lone Rock residents are proud of our students and our school, which we’ve demonstrated with support of important building projects over the years. Now we have the chance to continue financial support in a manner that doesn’t increase our taxes, yet will benefit our school for years to come. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Lone Rock School District with a YES vote for the Lone Rock levy this year.
