The Stevensville and Corvallis boys and girls soccer teams hosted Corvallis on Saturday, Sept. 19, in an all-Bitterroot Valley matchup.
Before the game, Stevensville honored Bitterroot soccer legend Ralph Serrette in a pregame ceremony and renamed the Stevensville Soccer Complex to the Serrette Soccer Complex. Serrette, a longtime Stevensville boys soccer head coach, passed away in September of 2024.
Boys game
The boys took the pitch first. Corvallis controlled the game early and led 2-0 on two goals from Bode Pullum. Stevensville then made a second-half comeback. First, a Corvallis handball in the box led to a made Stevensville penalty kick by Jacob Shobe. Then, with under two minutes to play in stoppage time, Stevensville’s Emmett Pratt scored on a putback, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Girls game
The Corvallis and Stevensville girls teams were evenly matched, and Corvallis took an early lead on an impressive goal in the 22nd minute by Katherine Wrobleski, with an assist from Kate Allen, and Corvallis led 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, Stevensville increased their offensive pressure (Stevensville outshot Corvallis 21-11 for the game) and Stevensville’s Addi Nobi scored to tie the game in the 57th minute. Then in the 75th minute, Stevensville’s Madigan Hurlbert scored to give the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead. Both teams had scoring chances late, but the game ended in a 2-1 Stevensville victory.
The Corvallis girls hosted Missoula Loyola earlier in the week on Thursday, Sept. 17, and won 3-1. For Corvallis, Katherine Wrobleski scored two goals and had an assist, Lauryn Holmberg had a goal, and Kate Allen and Addison Bishop each had assists.
The Stevensville boys and girls played at Frenchtown on Thursday, Sept. 17. The Stevensville girls won 1-0, on a Madigan Hurlbert goal (assisted by Lyla DuPont). The Stevensville boys lost 1-2.
Hamilton soccer
The Hamilton boys and girls soccer teams played at Frenchtown on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The Hamilton boys won 4-0, and the Hamilton girls won 6-4. Then on Thursday, Sept. 17, Hamilton hosted Polson. The girls won 3-0. For Hamilton, Isa Neal had a hat trick (three goals), and Anna Lewis had two assists. The Hamilton boys lost 0-2.
