Darby Bread Box collections
Darby Bread Box is collecting boxed potatoes, stuffing, flour and sugar during November. The donations can be dropped off at People’s Market or the Bitterroot Credit Union in Darby. The Darby Bread Box will raffle off a handmade Rocking Horse made by Clarence Andersen. All proceeds will go to the Darby Bread Box. You can view and purchase tickets at the Bitterroot Federal Credit Union in Darby for $1.00 per ticket.
Habitat for Humanity

Florence clothing, toy drive
The Florence Civic Club is again sponsoring the Florence Share Tree, which provides new clothes for local children in need of assistance. The Share Tree is located at Farmers State Bank and Florence Ace Hardware and is decorated with tags that contain clothing sizes for a child in need. To participate, just stop by the bank or hardware store and select a tag, then purchase two or three items of clothing for the child. The clothing should be delivered to the bank by Dec. 13. The Florence High School Key Club will wrap the clothes on December 19.
The Florence Civic Club is also collecting toys for these children. Toys for Tots boxes for new and gently used toys are located at Gary & Leo’s, Florence Ace Hardware, Florence-Carlton Chiropractic, Florence Elementary and High School, and Farmers State Bank. To help, just drop a new toy in any of these boxes.
To receive clothing or toys through these programs, you may pick up an application from the counselors at Florence-Carlton School, the North Valley Family Center or Pantry Partners in Stevensville. The application deadline is Dec. 9.
Civic Club members will be selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the Florence Share Tree. Tickets are available at Florence Ace Hardware and will also be sold at the Florence Bazaar. You can win a one night stay at a Town House Inn anywhere in Montana, a visit from Santa Charlie, wine tasting and wine from Café Firenze or a turkey from Gary & Leo’s plus a turkey cooker from Florence Ace Hardware.

BPL fall fund drive
The Bitterroot Public Library’s annual fall fund drive runs through December. Each year the library invites you to contribute to the annual drive. The library relies on your donations, grants, bequests and memorials to fill its funding gaps. All gifts are tax deductible. For more information contact the library at 363-1670.
Soroptimist candy sale
Soroptimist See’s Christmas Candy Sale will continue through Saturday, December 24 at 1st Security Bank, Hamilton Branch parking lot. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Library ‘food for fines’
Looking for an affordable way to wipe out your library fines? North Valley Public Library will offer their annual “Food for Fines” program during the month of December. Help the library elp others! Bring your non-perishable food items to the library and your overdue fines will be waived at a rate of $1.00 per can. (Lost or damaged library materials not included.) Food gathered will be donated to the Pantry Partners Food Bank in Stevensville. The North Valley Public Library is located at 208 Main Street, Stevensville. Hospice Tree of Lights
Let a light shine on the Marcus Daly Hospice Tree of Lights in remembrance of a friend or loved one. Hospice Fundraiser: Purchase a light for $5.00 and or an ornament for $20.00 to honor someone special in your life. To assure your loved one’s name will be included in the Tree of Lights service on Dec. 8, make your purchases by December 2. Ornaments can be picked up at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center or for additional fee of $5.00 it will be mailed to you.
Hospice Tree of Lights Ceremony: All are welcome to the annual non-denominational Hospice Tree of Lights ceremony of remembrance on Thursday, December 8 at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1220 West Main Street, Hamilton. This year’s ceremony features the Hamilton High School Choir as well as other local musicians. Following at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital will be the lighting of the Hospice Tree of Lights and a homemade holiday Goodie Reception in the Hospital Conference Rooms B/C.

Lutheran Thanksgiving Eve service
Join the congregation of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Stevensville, in a Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday, November 23 at 7 p.m. to get your holiday off on the right foot. The Thanksgiving holiday was set aside as a time to give thanks for what God has given us, not only materially, but, more importantly, spiritually. A perfect time to consider what is really important in our lives is the night before the ever-escalating craziness of this upcoming season begins. Our Savior, located at 184 Pine Hollow Road, is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. To find the church, head south from Stevensville on the Eastside Highway. The Five Valley Accordion Association will hold its next jam/dance session on Sunday, November 27 at “Jokers Wild” in Missoula, 4829 N. Reserve Street. Leadership training
The Stevensville Main Street Association in partnership with the Montana State Main Street Program will be hosting a leadership seminar on board development, funding, getting things done and volunteer relationships and development on Tuesday, November 29 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stevensville Main Street Association office, 102B Main. Colleen Rudio will be the presenter for this program which promises to be one that you will gain many useful tools from to make your board of directors and leaders of your organizations more effective and the ability to accomplish your projects more tangible.
Topics to be addressed include: What are our responsibilities, accountability factors and ethical obligations? How can we more effectively manage our people, our resources, and our organizations? How can we effectively manage our committees, meetings, and projects? What are some board self-assessment techniques? How can we ignite community involvement? What resources can you leverage more effectively? What is working in other Montana communities?
Colleen Rudio is the owner of Rudio Performance Management Group, LLC of Missoula. Prior to that she was the Director of the Management Consulting Division of JCCS, CPAs and Business Advisors. She is a board member and past president of the Missoula Downtown Association, president of Missoula Downtown Foundation, President Elect of Big Sky Society of Human Resources, board member of the Montana Community Development Corporation, and actively volunteers for numerous local and statewide non-profit organizations.

‘Growing Up’ workshop
There will be a free “Growing Up Workshop” for parents and girls 5th-8th grade on Tuesday, November 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the North Valley Family Center. An important conversation and an opportunity for moms and daughters to talk about the subject of growing up. Puberty, relationships, communication, and expectations! There is lot to talk about with your child and not many issues are more foreboding than that of S-E-X. When to talk about it, how to talk about it and why to talk about it. Facilitated by Angel Nordquist, Community Outreach Educator.
