November 13, 2018 by Editor

Florence – William “Bill” Stanley Schneider II, born May 27, 1947 to William and Dorothy Schneider of Hackettstown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his home on November 11, 2018, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Bill spent his early years in Hackettstown, New Jersey. A very accomplished athlete, Bill played numerous sports – baseball, swimming and soccer.  Following graduation from George Junior Republic High School in Freeville, NY, Bill entered the U.S. Air Force, which took him to California for six years as a para-medic. While in the USAF, Bill swam in the Olympic time trials in Mexico City in 1968. He is a chemistry degree graduate of Pasadena City College. It was during a visit to his parents in New Jersey that he met the love of his life, and soulmate, Beverly Crouse, and wife of 43 years. Bill is the father of two beautiful daughters, Dr. Stacie Campo and her husband Jonathan of Missoula and Stefanie Kopack and her husband Brian of Washington, NJ. Bill was extremely proud of his grandchildren Anna, Jonah and Tessa.

His baseball adventures took him to Albuquerque, NM for division three with the LA Dodgers. Upon returning to NJ, he played double A ball for the Phillies. Bill’s past employments include nursing, chemistry, wine making and supervisor for Warren County Communications 9-1-1 Emergency Center. A side line hobby was officiating basketball (IAABO) and ASA softball for over 30 years. When not officiating, Bill played on numerous softball teams throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Bill was an avid Osprey baseball fan and attended as many games as he could. Bill was a member of the Stevensville United Methodist Church and the Stevensville Masonic Lodge #28 since his move to Missoula in 2015.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 5 p.m. at the Stevensville United Methodist Church, 216 College Street, Stevensville, MT 59870. On Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 5 p.m., services will be held at the Buttzville United Methodist Church, 4 Green Pond Road, Buttzville, NJ 07823. If preferred, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stevensville United Methodist Church, or the Buttzville United Methodist Church.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
