Stevensville, Hamilton finish season

November 8, 2011 by Jean Schurman

It definitely was not the same game as last year when Stevensville took on Billing Central and lost, 53 – 15. This year, the two teams were more evenly matched this year as indicated by the final score. Billings Central defeated Stevensville, 14-12, in a snowstorm.
The snow didn’t seem to affect Caleb Vance and his passing. He threw for 270 yards despite being sacked six times. Billings Central scored in the first quarter when Jacob Stanton caught a 27 yard pass from Ryan Burke. The PAT by Luke Day was good. Stevensville came back in the second quarter and scored when Dylan Reed caught a Vance pass from 25 yards out. However the kick was no good and the ‘Jackets were down by a point. Billings Central scored again in the third quarter on a seven yard run by Connor Cerkovnik. The Daly kick was good and Billings Central had 14 points on the board. Vance hit one of his favorite targets, Josh Lords, for an 89-yard touchdown reception. The ‘Jackets opted to go for two points but the run failed. Stevensville finished their season with a record of 7-3.
Hamilton lost to Havre, 30-14. Hamilton scored first when Seth Ray blocked a punt and returned it eight yards. Seth Mason kicked the PAT and the Broncs were on the board. However Havre came back to score when Thurman Holdsclaw plowed through the Bronc line from three yards out. The Blue Ponies scored twice more in the second quarter. Holdsclaw caught a 20 yard pass from Justin Jensen for the first touchdown and then Brayden Grimson caught a Jensen pass before the end of the first half. Hamilton scored once more when Tyler Murray hit Dustin Weidenkeller with a short pass. Mason kicked the PAT. Brand scored another TD for Havre to complete the scoring.
Hamilton finished its season with a record of 5-6.
