Stevi Garden Club
The Stevensville Garden Club meets every first Wednesday of the month at the Community Baptist Church, 409 Buck Street. DiverseU
The University of Montana will celebrate its credentials as a “DiverseU” on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 1-2, during the 12th annual DiverseU event. DiverseU is a campuswide series of events focused on topics in diversity. DiverseU provides a forum for honest dialogue and the opportunity to explore the complexities of human experience, promote understanding and create community through the practice of civil discourse.
All DiverseU sessions and events are free and open to the public. Educational sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday on the third floor of the University Center. UM students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members will discuss, present, perform and exhibit art.
DiverseU and Emmaus will host SALAM (Standing Alongside America’s Muslims) for an evening of food, community, dialogue and learning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Speaker Ann Holmes Redding will discuss the issues and misinformation around the Islam religion and Muslims in America. Standing Rock leader LaDonna Brave Bull Allard will close out the symposium with her keynote speech “Healing the Next Generation” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the University Center South Ballroom.
Allard is a Lakota historian and activist. In April 2016, she founded the first resistance camp of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest, Sacred Stones, aimed at halting the Dakota Access Pipeline near Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota.

Health Education Series
Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital’s Health Education Series continues on Thursday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. Join Dr. Simone Musco from Providence International Heart Institute; Jennifer Troupe, MS RD CDE BC-ADM from Providence Medical Group Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition; and Stacie Epling, RN with Marcus Daly Chronic Care Management as they team up for the “Take Control of Your Health” panel discussion.
Among the three panelists there is expertise in the areas of cardiology, diabetes and chronic care disease management. Learn how you can take control of your health and how nutrition, stress and the environment can bring on and advance chronic health conditions.
The discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Blodgett and Canyon View conference rooms. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., come early and visit the booths: get your blood pressure and posture checked, join MyHealth, schedule a wellness visit and learn more about chronic care disease management services close to home.

CHS performance
The Corvallis High School Performing Arts Department will be presenting “My Fair Lady” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 2, 3, 4 at 7 p.m. in the CHS Old Gym. Tickets are $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and are available at the CHS office.
Darby School Family Night
Darby School is hosting the first of their “Family Nights” this year on Thursday, November 2. Families and community members are invited to attend Fall Festival for a free dinner and activities and presentations. This Family Night will focus on Health and Nutrition, with presentations from Marcus Daily Memorial Hospital on “Healthy Eating on a Tight Budget” and SNAP Education from MSU Extension. There will also be activities for kids of all ages. Darby School has hosted Family Nights for many years, and is a time to welcome families and community members for a fun, social evening.

Smart driver course
An all new Smart Driver Course (formerly ’55 Alive’) will be held Friday, November 3 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Stevensville United Methodist Church, located at 216 College Street. While this new safe driving strategies class is designed for drivers age 50 and over, all drivers are welcome. This program now features current laws and up-dates specific to Montana. Pre-registration is advised. There are no driving tests or written exams and Montana mandates insurance discounts for qualified drivers. Artists Along the Bitterroot Show
The 9th Annual Artists Along the Bitterroot Studio Tour and Sale will be held Friday-Sunday, November 3-5 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Studios are located from Lolo to Hamilton representing a wide variety of mediums. Come to this free event and visit the 19 Bitterroot artisans, including painters, sculptors, photographers, and pastel, silk, glass, ceramic, leather and cement artists. Visit the website

North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, November 3 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville.
Guest speaker will be club Vice President Jay Blakslee who is a US Army Vietnam-era veteran. Jay will be talking about his Run for The Wall Part II. This was his 7th year participating with 800 others, mostly veterans. They do the ride to recognize and honor all veterans who have served our nation including POWs, MIAs and those who can’t ride. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
First Friday at Library
Classical pianist Arthur Kostuk will play on First Friday, November 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library in Stevensville. This event is a must for classical music lovers. Arthur’s resume includes performances at concert halls in New York, Boston, Montreal, St. Louis and Seattle. A Chicago source described him as “The Silver Bullet” for his ability to play rapid passages and his ability to enthrall audiences. Arthur engages listeners with his virtuosity as well as his insightful commentary on the history of the pieces, the period of music, and the composers.

Hannah’s Hope benefit An indoor yard sale to benefit Hannah’s Hope Fund for Victor MT Teachers will take place on Friday, November 3 and Saturday November 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the old VFW building, 924 Adirondac Avenue in Hamilton (across the street to the north of the Hamilton City Dog Park and Wastewater Treatment Plant). New, used, antiques, and collectible items will all be discounted. Hannah’s Hope Fund for Victor MT Teachers has been set up to help reimburse the teachers for supplies that they purchase using their own personal funds. This Fund has been set up through the Victor Schools Foundation in memory of Hannah Johnson Capen, a Victor School graduate, Missoula Hellgate Elementary school teacher, and Missoula Middle School volleyball coach. Donations are accepted at any Farmers State Bank branch, or contact Diane Johnson Cottrell at 239-1180.
Equine rescue benefit Western Montana Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation will hold an open house and tack sale on Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1252 Willow Creek Road, Corvallis. Rotary Club Clair Leonard will speak on the Irish Studies Program at UM and its future at the next meeting of the Hamilton Rotary Club, on Monday, November 6 at 12 noon at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N. 1st, Hamilton. Tuesday, November 7
Bitterrootdalen Lodge, Sons of Norway, will meet Tuesday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hamilton. The program will feature Maddie Murray, Miss Montana, who will give a presentation about the importance of volunteering. She will be talking at 300 schools this year about her platform: “Gift your gift of Service”. The public is invited. The Lodge will serve an early Thanksgiving dinner, with members invited to bring side dishes. The Lodge has already contributed money in support of the Corvallis High School drama presentation of “My Fair Lady”, and will consider other contributions to the community. Fire and Forest Management Series
The North Valley Public Library in Stevensville will host a three-part fire and forest management series on Wednesdays, November 8, 15 and 22.
Steve Arno and Carl Fiedler present “Fire, Fire Ecology, and Forest Management in the Bitterroot” on November 8 at 6 p.m. Learn about the history and role of fire in the Bitterroot, how fire behaves in managed versus unmanaged forests, and what alternative futures of living with fire may look like.
Jim Burchfield presents “Collaborative Fire Management” on November 15 at 6 p.m. Learn how forest management has evolved since the induction of National Forests and how citizen involvement in forest management is the way forward to managing our natural resources in a democracy.
Gordy Sanders presents “Economics of the Timber Industry” on November 22 at 6 p.m. Learn about the current state of the timber industry in Western Montana and what it does to reduce fire risk.
