The Hamilton girls and boys teams won the Kim Haines Memorial Track Meet in Frenchtown on Saturday. Haines was a long-time track and basketball coach from Seeley-Swan who was inducted into the Montana Coaches Hall of Fame.
Reilly Rostad led the Hamilton girls with wins in the long jump and the triple jump. She also placed third in the 100 meter race. Rostad jumped 17-2.5 in the long jump which is the third longest in Class A in the state. Her leap of 35-4 is the second longest in the state in Class A to date. Another Hamilton girl, Ashlee Searle cleared the high jump bar at 5-2 to win that event.
Gracie Lang of Darby won the 3,200 meter race with a time of 12:26.97 which is unofficially one of the top times in Class C in the state.
Darby’s Kye McCollaum won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. His time of 15.39 in the 110 hurdles is the best in Class C in the state. He clocked 41.99 in the 300 hurdles. Another Darby Tiger won the javelin. John Beckers threw a 165-11 to win the event.
Other valley winners were Hamilton’s Matt Wilson won the 3,200 with a time of 10:17.99, and Florence’s Jethro Thorne who won the 400 with a time of 53.02.
Corvallis ventured to Dillon for the Dillon Invitational. The Corvallis girls won with 173 points. Dillon was second with 139. They were followed by Twin Bridges with 93, Park with 57, Jefferson (Boulder) with 9, and Lima with 8 points.
Calla Haldorson threw the discus 139-10, a state best, to win that event. Brookelyn Palin was second with 135-10. Ceara Chavez won the triple jump with 35-8.25 which is the longest in Class A in the state. Heidi Nisly won the 800 with a time of 2:25.63. She also won the 1,600 with a time of 5:40.68.
Jake Jessop won the 400 with a time of 51.47. Bruce Thomas was second with 52.15 and Jakob Dalbey completed the sweep with a time of 53.61. In another race, Andrew Jessop won the 1,600 with a time of 4:45.12. Carson Jessop was second with 4:46.04 and Anders Watt was third with 4:47.41. Then, in the 3,200, Watt won the 3,200 with 10:44.19. He was followed by Carson Jessop in second with 10:58.37, and Joel Haas in third with 11:09.60. The 1,600 relay team of Ben Carrasco, Andrew Jessop, Carson Jessop, and Haas won with a time of 3:39.42. Dante venom vaulted 12-00 to win that. Braxton Roth continued his success in the triple jump with a winning effort of 41-7.5. Zach Jessop won the javelin with 183-02, the second best in the state. Garrett Brown won the shot put with a throw of 49-05.5.
