The fledgling Florence golf team held their first golf tournament ever on Friday at the Hamilton Golf Course. Ten boys teams from Western Montana took part in the B/C event. There were three teams in the girls team scoring. (The golf season for Class B and Class C is in the spring while the AA and A teams compete in the fall.)
Coach Jason Lehtola said his team did very well considering none of his players had ever participated in a high school golf tournament before. Loyola won the team scoring for the boys and the girls. The top boys’ individual was Ryggs Johnston of Libby who shot a 74. Kylie Esh of Loyola won the girls with a 74 as well. Florence’s Shelby Palio was sixth with a score of 115.
The Florence boys had a team score of 503. They were led by Hunter Harrington who shot a 104. Gavin Zaluski had 125, Jaden Smith shot 134, Parker Hotsinpiller shot a 140 and Steven Betts shot a 142. For the girls, Keerstyn Salverson had a 129, Meghan St. Germain had a 129, Zoë Lewis shot a 151, Madison Hawl had a 153 and Edna Martinez shot a 159.
