We can’t afford more refugees

May 17, 2016 by Guest Post

Let’s get real. Yes, we are all descendents of immigrants, most of us from a time when our country was much in need of settlers followed by a time when the Industrial Revolution needed workers.
Now we are a country burdened by $19 trillion in debt, much of our industry moved out of the country, major cities crowded and besieged by crime and gangs.
There are poor people “just looking for a better life” among the illegal aliens crossing the border. Everyone of them an immediate drain on our beleaguered taxpayers, already $19 trillion in debt and counting. Isn’t it time Mexico and Central America started taking responsibility for their own?
There are drug carriers, gang members and ISIS infiltrators also crossing our border. The Border Patrol estimates that 90% get through because the sheer volume overwhelms them. The Coyotes have no regard for human life. They abandon people, with rape of the women reported as being a common occurrence.
The American Border Patrol, a civilian organization, has reported that a training camp near Juarez, Mexico is training Middle Easterners how to pass as Mexicans to get across the border. The current administration wants to admit a large number of Syrian refugees. Montana has agreed to take some. If you tend to minimize this problem you should watch a satellite TV program on National Geographic called “Border Wars.”
Trump wants to build a wall. Hillary says we should build bridges. I guess Hillary isn’t up on the problem because the bridges are already there, along with the tunnels and maybe a catapult or two.
Trump wants a moratorium on all immigration until we can get it under control. I agree.
The preamble to the Constitution says “Establish Justice, Promote the General Welfare, Secure the blessings of liberty to our posterity.” It doesn’t say our posterity and every other human being on the planet, regardless of their intent in coming here.
