Season ends with All Valley Classic

all valley 2016webThe Kiwanis All Valley Classic put the cap on the basketball season on Tuesday, March 15. A good-sized crowd attended the showcase and enjoyed the last high school basketball game of the season. During halftime of the girls’ game, the boys competed in the three-point shooting contest. Hamilton’s Ky Burch drilled 15 in a minute to win the event. During halftime of the boys’ game, the girls competed. Chloe Arthur of Florence won that event. Between the games, the best of the best were honored. State champions, individuals and teams, were called to the floor and given a certificate. Mike Fehr, Corvallis girls’ tennis coach, Joanne Cleveland, Corvallis Cross Country coach, and Spencer Huls, Corvallis track coach, were all honored as coaches of the year. Also honored were the Corvallis boys’ soccer team, the Corvallis boys and girls cross country teams, and the Corvallis boys and girls track teams. Finishing off the honors were the players of the year. They are: football – Wyatt Haldorson of Corvallis and Alex Draper of Hamilton; lineman of the year – Jonathan Ringer, Hamilton; soccer – Quade Renstrom, Stevensville; softball – Megan Byrne, Florence; volleyball – Sabrina Hopcroft, Florence; girls’ basketball – Kloie Nye, Hamilton; boys basketball – Levi Clagett, Florence; athletes of the year – Taia Tully, Corvallis, and Luke Channer, Corvallis; Stephanie Gonzales Sportsmanship award – Lily Lang, Darby, and Jack Pederson, Victor. Calla Haldorson of Corvallis was honored for winning the national NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick contest.
