Museum educational program
A lecture on “Montana’s Indian Wars” by E.B. Eiselein (Speaks Lightning) will be held Thursday, September 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Old Courthouse at the Ravalli County Museum, 205 Bedford in Hamilton. While it is a common misconception to envision 19th century Montana as a land of constant warfare between the American military and the various Indian tribes, the number of military actions were relatively few. This presentation will explore the cultural backgrounds of three of these actions: the 1869 Heavy Runner Massacre, the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn, and the 1877 Nez Perce War. The presentation will not focus on military strategies, but rather on the cultural conflicts which led to these incidents. This free event is sponsored by Humanities Montana. For more information, contact the Ravalli County Museum at the Old Courthouse at 363-3338 or visit www.brvhsmuseum.org.
Fellowship Club
The Bitterroot Public Library’s Fellowship Club will be meeting on Thursday, September 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss “The Healing Secrets of the Ages” by Catherine Ponder. This book has been described by New Thought Quarterly as a “classic” that “will continue to exist as one of the shining jewels in the crown” of Catherine Ponder. In this work, Ponder shares the incredible healing secrets known and invoked by the great minds down through the ages. They are teachings that have been well guarded and passed on from century to century to just a select few. These secrets have to do with the twelve mind powers located within the vital nerve centers in the body, which greatly affect one’s health, either constructively or destructively. Ponder explains how disease always has a mental correspondence with one of these mind powers and devotes a complete chapter to each power with case histories and diagrams. Catherine Ponder is considered one of America’s foremost inspirational authors. She has written more than a dozen books, including the best selling classic The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity. Described as the “Norman Vincent Peale among lady ministers,” Ponder has lectured widely in Unity and Religious Science churches. She has lectured for business, professional and conventional groups, and has appeared on numerous television talk shows. The Fellowship Club meets every second Thursday of the month in the West Meeting Room of the Bitterroot Public Library and is free and open to anyone seeking to promote individual and collective well being. Call 363-1670, or email jacostant@gmail.com for more information.
