Malcolm David Woodard

November 4, 2015 by Editor

WoodardVictor – Malcolm David Woodard was “absent from the body and present with the Lord” (II Corinithians 5:8) on October 22, 2015. Malcolm was born 15 July 1927 to Paul and Daphne Woodard at Seattle, Washington. Malcolm graduated from O’dea High School in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Army medical battalion of the second infantry division. Malcolm graduated with the Master’s Degree in mathematics from the University of Washington in 1950.
In 1950, he married Jean Marilyn Davis in Seattle, who has always been his loving wife until his death. Malcolm was ordained as a Baptist pastor in 1954. His wife has been his companion and helper in several pastorates starting with The Hague Baptist Church in Florida and continuing with pastorates, interim pastorates, and just filling pulpits until and after they arrived in Montana. The couple finished their team work in the Lord in Montana by serving for over thirteen years with a weekly service at Cathy’s Place and the Clark Fork Manor until health prohibited.
Malcolm had the privilege of teaching at the University of Washington, Tennessee Temple University, University of Montana, Cedarville College, Brian College, and Ohio State University. He did research work at the University of Washington, University of Tennessee, Ohio State, Eglin Air Force Base, Arnold Engineering Development Center at Tullahoma, and Combustion Engineering in Tennessee.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter-in-law, Mary, and his sister Gladys Woodard. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; his children: Mark Woodard (Cindy), Carolyn Lee (David), Grant Woodard (Mary – deceased), and Shannon Cross (Jim); brothers John and Jeremy Woodard, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
“I have had a full life, obtaining the gold of God’s redemption (John 3:16), without which life is of no value. I and my wife would like to encourage you, Therefore my beloved brethren be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forsomuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15:58).
A graveside service was held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Victor Cemetery followed by a memorial service which was held at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Corvallis with a reception following. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
