Stevensville School District Superintendent David Whitesell has submitted his resignation effective June 30, 2015. Whitesell applied for a job as school superintendent in Arlee several months ago hoping to be closer to his children who attend school in that district.
“I think that anyone who knows me understands the importance my children play in both my personal and professional life,” said Whitesell in an open letter concerning his resignation. “With that in mind, I applied for the Arlee Superintendent’s position several months ago and after weeks of negotiating we were finally able to come to agreeable terms last night during a special board meeting.”
“Though I am excited to be working in the same district with my children and in a district that I can be effective, I will miss all of you,” he told his staff. “The past three years have been exciting and challenging and I believe that we have been responsive to the needs of our children. I also have faith in the quality of staff that graces Stevensville Public Schools and that you will continue to work passionately for what is best for again, our children.”
A special board meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, May 5 with Whitesell’s resignation listed as an agenda item, as well as the resignation of Assistant Principal Nate Fry, who also serves as Athletic Director. “Superintendent Search” was also on the agenda.
