The liberals have lost their minds – at least that’s my opinion of the current national political climate. It seems clear that no matter what President Trump does, the liberals will find something negative to say about it. Recent letters to the editor in the Star seem to support this opinion.
President Trump just announced an end to the Israel/Hamas war yesterday, and the liberals are accusing him of being Hitler and have a “No Kings Day” demonstration being planned. President Trump was able to close our borders within a matter of days after taking office, and he gets accused of being insensitive to the needs of humanity. He makes great strides in leveling the tariff playing field, and he gets accused of ruining our economy even though jobs and companies are flowing back into our country, and foreign investments are in the trillions of dollars. Oh, and the stock market is at an all-time high.
Since a number of “blue” city and state politicians have demonstrated an inability to get crime under control in their city/state, he has started taking action by sending in federal officers and in some cases, the National Guard, to find and arrest the worst of the criminals, many of whom are illegal aliens. I would think that as law-abiding citizens we would all be in favor of that, but no, he is again being accused of a multitude of stupid things. What the heck is the matter with these people who can’t see the positive result of reducing crime?
How about the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk – one of our local writers was upset about the funeral event where thousands attended in person and millions watched on TV, AND it was entirely peaceful. Please think back to when George Floyd died – the radical left held riots in numerous cities causing billions of dollars in damage and many deaths.
As other writers have noted and questioned, the Democrat party seems to have drifted to the far left with a lack of leadership. The shift toward Socialism/Communism has this writer extremely worried. One of the reasons given for our participation in the Korean and Vietnam wars was to stop the spread of Communism. Yikes! We have a Communist as the Democratic candidate front-runner in the current New York Mayor race. If you think Socialism/Communism is a good thing, take a close look at Cuba and Venezuela.
Finally, I will end this letter with pointing out that some of the liberal folks continue to push for allowing boys to participate in girls sports.

For you folks to suggest, or worse believe, that millions of Americans turn out to protest because of some imaginary funding is not only delusional, it’s childish. I have attended every rally and know first hand.
Frank says
It’s not hard to look up. This protest is being sponsored by the Communist Party of America. If you all continue your support of this disgusting display of communism than, if it walks like a duck…
WMA says
Worth repeating:
Childish and delusional.
Tom potts says
I prefer the no kings rally to the 1/6 one king rally.
Gomez says
Like I said, you’re all wound pretty tight about it. 🙂
No Kings 10/18/25. See you there.
Peace.
Tommy Johnson says
The only true no kings rally was back on July 4, 1776. All others are nothing but theater and whining.
Roger Mitchell says
So all the colonists did was to substitute a president for a king–George I in place of George III, Supposedly, this would make them free, but history shows otherwise.
One of the very first things which George Washington (George I) did after taking office was to march federal troops into western Pennsylvania, crushing the so-called Whiskey Rebellion, and forcing the participants into submission to his rule. These hardy settlers had just fought in a war and probably thought that they could now live in peace without some distant tyrant harassing, taxing, and killing them. Welcome to the Grand Delusion!
Since then, power has only flowed one way–straight toward the throne in Washington. We stand now at the cusp of full-blown totalitarianism and have no one but ourselves to blame.
Gomez says
Conservatives are wound pretty tight about “No Kings!” day. Pretty telling. The projection is strong.
Fascism definition;
“Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement that rose to prominence in early-20th-century Europe.”
MAGA, far right? Check. Authoritarian? Check. Ultranationalist? Check.
If the shoe fits…..
tracy says
Actually we are not. were he a “king” or wanna be you would not be allowed to stand on the street and act like fools. Much nothing about nothing.
Frank says
The No Kings movement’s ridiculous and supposed grassroots push against wealth and power, yet it’s bankrolled by billionaires like George Soros and Christy Walton, who’ve funneled millions to groups organizing protests. If they hate kings, why do they act like puppet masters? The irony’s thick.
Gomez says
Frank. The millions that will be lining the streets holding handmade signs this weekend are not being paid to stand out in the cold. We will be there because we want to be there.
You are more than welcome to organize and hold a “We’re Totally Cool With Having A King” rally any time you please. Donald would love that.
Peace.
Mike Miller says
LOL! Talk about deflection, Gomez. Dems are the one all wound up about it; they’re the ones having silly protests about a duly elected president.
Since you mention fascism, the Dems are the ones who tried to anoint a queen without having a lawfully/constitutional primary election.
And Frank is correct in his statement below about Soros- through “Open Society Foundations”, maybe others. It’s easy to verify, just do a search for “soros supports protests”.
WMA says
Mike,
Democrats didn’t nominate Biden for president. They nominated the Biden/Harris ticket. Biden withdrew from the running. Harris was the natural successor.
Mike Miller says
You are absolutely wrong.
The Democrat voters and their designated delegates nominated Biden for president during the primaries. They absolutely did not vote Harris for president during the primaries, but as vice president.
Harris was anointed as the presidential candidate by the Democratic party AFTER the primaries… without a single vote from voters or delegates. Not one single vote from the people. You know, like a king, I mean, queen would.
Now, if the political party picks the candidate for the people, that’s… wait for it… fascist. And if the duly elected president, who was elected by the people, allows the people their right to peacefully protest, that is certainly not a fascist king.
So you, Gomez, and the others, go utilize your Freedoms of travel and protest that the duly elected president is honoring your Right to do so, because you certainly wouldn’t be able to do those in countries that do have fascist, controlling rulers that deny their people that freedom.
WMA says
MM,
BS.

We cannot argue with the provincials. They know nothing of life beyond their teeny world.
Frank says
Great letter and very accurate. Democrats remind me of a petulant teenager. They have no great understanding of what’s going on in the wider world around them but they will argue with you and contradict you on absolutely everything, regardless.
