On Saturday, April 5, Bitterroot Indivisible will host a rally in Hamilton to protest the actions of the Trump Administration, from mass firings of federal employees without cause to the dismantling of critical agencies to closing agency offices in rural communities and slashing vital funding.
Organizers say this will be a peaceful rally and march, with speakers addressing topics from agriculture, veterans, science, infectious disease and legal issues to local impact. The presentations will be at River Street Dance Theater starting at 1 p.m. All those that are concerned, including elected officials, are invited to attend.
Becky Peters, co-host and chair of Bitterroot Indivisible, says, “Marches matter. Freedom of speech matters. The world has an apprehensive eye on our country. Others are wondering if we will stand up for our country or if we will be silent and complacent. Our almost 250 year old democracy is under attack. Our constitution is not only being ignored, it is being trampled on by unelected hackers. Gathering together and showing our government that we disagree is our duty as Americans. Join us!”
Dr. J. William Peters said, “This march is not about which party is in power at any certain time, it is about protecting the people of our valley from what is happening now and from what could happen. It is about working on saving lost jobs, lost fire protection, loss of public lands, lost health care. It’s about losing citizens, who are necessary to our future, as they move to other places. The people of our valley certainly don’t agree on everything, but we all can agree it is a special place to live and that means we all must work together for the health and well-being of all our citizens.”
Kierstin Schmitt, co-organizer, says, “Every single Montana industry, business and service will be affected and our elected representatives denying and minimizing the impacts. We will not stand for it. We will stand up for our rights every single. day.”
Jill Davies, co-host of the rally states, “I feel like we’re actors in a dystopian movie watching the Trump/Musk regime as they dismantle our democracy. I hope we can wake up the people.”

With the Markets in free fall, legal citizens being shipped off to El Salvador, tourists being held in ICE camps, Social Security checks being held for ransom, and the doors of important historical sites being locked to name a small few things this rally is long over due. Even with four of our armed forces returning in body bags he can’t even take a moment to honor their sacrifice and instead is hosting a Saudi funded golf event. Musk is an illegal immigrant who has infiltrated our most private personal information for his own ends, not ours, and his means are traitorous. The current executive branch cares nothing for The People but for land, property, and financial theft.
Derek says
It’s not worth the energy or time to argue with you. It’s unfortunate people like you can’t have normal conversations. The Saudi deal is a PR deal trying to bring money to America, the illegal in El Salvador is where he should be. The gal in Washington should have made sure her paper work was in order. The soldiers training exercise gone bad was horrible but it’s no Afgan withdraw…. Musk has been in the US since 95 as a student then a naturalized US citizen since like 05 roughly, now he is saving our astronauts. And him and his team is trying to save the country money and they have said they admit there are mishaps and they will work diligently to fix those, they ain’t perfect. But they are trying to help reduce all the overspending. Just give them a chance for hells sake. Give them the benefit of the doubt for at least a year. It’s amazing liberals can’t see the good that’s been done in under 100 days. Just calm down and let them work. Trump and Musk could cure cancer, alzheimers, and world hunger and the libtards would still have nothing good to say. Get over it and quit listening to propaganda.

You make your point that there is no point in arguing with you. It obvious what sources you believe. Let’s just allow everyone their constitutional right to peacefully gather and protest.

Becky Peters, co-host and chair of Bitterroot Indivisible, doesn’t understand USA is a Republic, NOT a democracy.
Rick says
Cuts in government spending and staffing NEEDS to be done. In one way or another, it will effect everybody but it is necessary. This is just a group of people wanting to further politically divide our community. The governments job is to keep us safe and secure, not hand out freebies to those too lazy or unwilling to work for them themselves. Once the major cuts are done, evaluations can be made as how to best support those who CAN’T do for themselves. There is a great difference between those who CAN NOT and those who WILL NOT. The will not’s need to be made to do without or work for what they want/need.
Derek says
Well said. I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand. Musk/DOGE is basically a consulting firm coming in identifying waste. Businesses do it all the time to identify waste. Go to doge.org and review what’s being identified. How can people be against removing wasteful spending, unless they are just uninformed on what’s actually being cut?
Derek says
Also why are people so against deporting illegal immigrant drug and gang members. It is absurd that people put that trash ahead of American citizens. If their not a USA citizen they do not have American rights. Pretty simple, we have to get rid of them.
Corrine says
The people who will be gathering still believe that America was founded on the promise of liberty and opportunity.
Corrine says
The people who will be participating in the peaceful protest on Saturday want to remind their neighbors that America was founded on the ideals of liberty and opportunity. The current deportation policy is in direct opposition to due process outlined in the Constitution. Luckily for me, my ancestors were able to come to America before there was a designation of an “illegal immigrant”.
Bill Stroud says
“unless they are just uninformed on what’s actually being cut?”
(in slowww, southern drawl)….”Ayuup, uuh huuh, now I are one.”
Derek says
It’s unfortunate for the people that lost or will lose their jobs, it sucks. Thats a fact… but it also happens all the time in the private sector if businesses can’t afford it and have to make cuts. Federal jobs can’t be guaranteed for life. The piggy bank is empty, we have to make cuts and sacrifices. Several of these jobs should be outsourced to the private sector. I would bet the jobs would be done better, cheaper and faster through the private sector. Then rather than having the proverbial 4 guys leaning on a shovel watching 1 guy work, you would have less people working more efficiently. It’s just a fact. Sorry for those that lost jobs but there are jobs available in the private sector as well.
