Misuse of taxpayers’ money

March 20, 2025 by Guest Post

by Grace Luibrand, Corvallis

It looks like the people in our valley need to calm down! The USFS used to employ one quarter the number of people that they hired, and accomplished four times the amount of work. Haven’t you noticed the lack of personal vehicles in the parking lots of Forest Service offices since Covid? Where are they? At home working on computers.

What good does that do for our forests? When my husband worked for the Forest Service, people showed up for work, jumped in their trucks and headed out to accomplish work to benefit the forest and the taxpayer. The forest was healthy back then but now has become very unhealthy because of neglect. This is the Department of Agriculture. The forest is not a museum where we come and look but do not touch!

The forest has become an embarrassment for those of us who spent their careers keeping it as healthy as possible.

Please think about it all.

The forest service started going downhill about 10 years ago and then during Covid when workers were not allowed to go into the office it really went downhill but I agree with Grace. I used to see for service workers doing all kinds of things today. Nothing perhaps that’s why Trump is cutting the way he is cutting. He will get those who really want to work and put them to work. The others can stay at home and play on their computers.
