Stevensville senior softball standout Lilly Newsom signed her letter of intent to play college softball with Dickinson State University in a ceremony at Stevensville High School on Friday, November 1.
Newsom is excited for the opportunity. “I wanted to go someplace that wasn’t too close to home, but was near enough that my parents could come see my games,” said Newsom. “I went on a visit and got to practice with the players. I really liked the players and coaches.”
Newsom plans to study Exercise Science at Dickinson, working towards becoming a Physical Therapist.
Newsom looks forward to her senior softball season and is excited to continue improving her skills. “When I practiced with the Dickinson players,” said Newsom, “they were all really good, so I’m motivated to work hard this season to keep improving so I can compete with them next year.”
Newsom has been a standout softball player for the Lady ‘Jackets. She was Honorable Mention All Conference as a sophomore. Then as a junior last year, she was an All State selection. Newsom is also on Stevensville’s volleyball team.
Dickinson State University is a public university founded in 1918 and is located in Dickinson, North Dakota with an enrollment of 1392 students.
