Bitterroot Health launches Medical Assistant Pathways Program

October 22, 2024 by Editor

Bitterroot Health has announced the launch of the Medical Assistant Pathways Program (MAPP), an innovative initiative aimed at empowering individuals to begin and advance their careers in healthcare. Developed as part of the Ryan Educational Advancement Partnership, MAPP offers a unique opportunity for those new or returning to healthcare, to join one of the region’s leading healthcare providers while receiving comprehensive hands-on training in a welcoming and supportive environment.

“At Bitterroot Health, we are committed to nurturing talent and fostering professional growth within our community,” said Becci Conroy, Chief Transformational Officer at Bitterroot Health. “The Medical Assistant Pathways Program exemplifies our dedication to providing meaningful career opportunities while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.”

Key Program Highlights:

Employment from Day One: Participants in MAPP are hired into full-time positions at Bitterroot Health at the outset of their educational journey. This employment opportunity includes competitive benefits and sets the stage for a fulfilling career in healthcare.

National Certification: The curriculum of MAPP is structured to prepare participants for the National Healthcare Association exam, paving the way for them to become certified Clinical Medical Assistants upon successful completion.

Hands-on Training: Through a blend of classroom instruction and practical experience in care settings, participants gain valuable, real-world skills essential for success as Medical Assistants. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates of MAPP are well-prepared to meet the demands of their roles from day one.

“We are thrilled to offer MAPP as a direct pathway into the dynamic field of healthcare,” said Christy Ellis, Clinical Workforce Educator at Bitterroot Health. “This program not only equips participants with the skills and certifications needed for a successful career but also integrates them into our dedicated teams.”

The program’s success has been made possible through the generous financial support of Rob and Terry Ryan. “The Ryans’ vision and commitment to advancing healthcare education in the Bitterroot Valley has brought this program to life,” said Al Garver, Senior Director of the Bitterroot Health Foundation. “The Ryans’ contribution will create a lasting impact on both our MAPP participants and the broader healthcare community; we are grateful for this remarkable partnership.”

Candidates who participate in the MAPP program and earn their Certified Medical Assistant credential will then have a career path to becoming an LPN and RN, should they decide to go further. Currently, there is no other comparable program in Montana to the Bitterroot Health MAPP course that is tuition-free while paying a wage while candidates learn.
