Michael Curlin

January 10, 2024 by Editor

Michael Shane Curlin, 64, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital with his family by his side and a full moon to lead him.

Michael was born on January 31, 1959, in Missoula, to Marshall and Gladys Curlin (Nee: Weimer). He was a lifelong Montana resident and spent most of his years in the Bitterroot Valley. Mike graduated from Sentinel High School in Missoula in the mid-seventies. Shortly after graduation, he went to work for Caras Cabinets and it was there he met the love of his life, Nancy Matuska. After almost 10 years together, they married and celebrated 29 years of marriage before his death. To their family, they welcomed their daughter, Lacey, and she was the light of Mike’s world. Mike went on to work for Imperial Meats for several years before going to work for Daily’s Meats for 25 years, ending his career as a graveyard foreman.

As a Montanan through and through, Mike was an avid outdoorsman. Fishing anywhere for anything, shooting for sport, and hunting eeer and elk were some things he enjoyed most. He and his family would take any opportunity they could to go out hiking, camping, berry picking or rockhounding all around Montana. Many will remember Mike’s quick wit and “wicked” sense of humor.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory and mourn his death are his wife Nancy Curlin; daughter Lacey Curlin; sister Iris Moe; many cousins and loved nieces and nephews who he enjoyed spending time with.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim Curlin, who was his lifelong sidekick.

At Mike’s request no services will be held.
