Valley softball teams handle Butte invitational

The Corvallis, Florence, Hamilton and Stevensville softball teams were all in Butte on May 12th & 13th for the LaVerne Combo Softball Invitational. There were 12 total schools and each played four games – two on Friday and two on Saturday. 

Corvallis went 4-0 over the weekend. On Friday, they defeated Miles City 17-7 and Glendive 10-3. In the Miles City game, Corvallis’s Jadyn Greenwood hit a home run and had 5 RBIs. On Saturday, they defeated Anaconda 9-1 and Deer Lodge 15-10. In the Anaconda game, Corvallis’s Kaitlin McCartney hit 2 home runs and had 4 RBIs.

Class B Florence competed well against the Class A schools. On Friday, Florence lost to Livingston 8-9 and Colombia Falls 1-7. In the Livingston game, Florence’s Rylee Yeoman went 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Then on Saturday, they defeated Glendive 9-1 and lost to Billings Central 3-11. In the Glendive game, Florence’s Olivia Coulter, Rylee Yeoman, and Madison Potter each hit a home run.  

Hamilton won three and lost one. On Friday, Hamilton lost to Livingston 1-4 and defeated Lockwood 7-2. In the Lockwood game, Hamilton’s pitcher Mariah Johnsonhad 6 strikeouts and got the win. Then on Saturday, they defeated Miles City 14-3 and Manhattan 11-2. In the Manhattan game, Hamilton’s Thea Jackson went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. 

Stevensville won all four games. On Friday, they defeated Butte High JV 16-0 and Manhattan 11-6. In the Butte High game, Stevensville’s Sophie Berning went 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs. On Saturday, they defeated Livingston 3-0 and Butte Central 14-12. In the Central game, Stevensville’s Maddy Davids went 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs.

Corvallis, Hamilton, and Stevensville will compete in the Western A Divisionals on May 19-20 in Frenchtown. Florence travels to Anaconda on May 18-20 for Divisionals.
