Hamilton – Michael Edwin Taylor, 74, of Hamilton passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was born January 22, 1948 in Stockton, CA the son of Charles Edwin and Jacqueline (McFall) Taylor.
Michael was raised in San Andreas, Calavaras County, California until 1961, then moved to Redding CA. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1966. Michael then attended the University California Berkeley, affiliated with the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was a catcher for the Cal Baseball team. In 1969, Michael attended the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry and was affiliated with the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity.
Michael married Susan Jane Gede on September 11, 1971 in Fresno, CA. After graduating from dental school in 1973 Michael entered into the US Navy. The Navy stationed Michael and Susan on Guam from 1973 to 1976, finishing his service at Mare Island, CA in 1977.
They welcomed their first son, Grant Edwin Taylor on Feb. 22, 1977. In the fall of 1977 the family moved to Hamilton Montana where Michael Started his dental practice and continued for 36 years. On Jan. 14, 1980 they welcomed their 2nd son, Marc James Taylor. Michael served on the Hamilton City Council, Kiwanis, and was very active coaching his children’s soccer and baseball teams throughout the years. He was a commercial and instrument rated private pilot, snow and water skier and a certified Scuba Diver. Michael was a lifetime sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He shot his last elk with a bow. Michael was a true lifetime learner, and especially enjoyed Genealogy.
Michael is survived by his wife, Susan of Hamilton; two sons, Grant and wife Silvy of Shoreline, WA, and Marc and wife Lindsay of Seattle, WA; 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Reid, Brett and Carly; brother, Rick Taylor; and brother-in-law, Gary McCown.
Dad wants to be remembered as a good father, good husband, good provider for his family and a good dentist for his community.
The family would like to thank Bitterroot Health Hospice, Dr. Emily Denney and Dr. Walker Ashcraft for the excellent care that Michael received.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception following in the funeral home’s community room.
