Hamilton outlasts Stevensville in volleyball

The volleyball teams of Hamilton and Stevensville met in Hamilton on Monday, September 26th in a battle of two of the conference’s best teams. The game could have gone either way, but Hamilton came away victorious in a thriller, winning 3-2 (25-22, 24-26, 21-25, 25-15, 15-10). For Hamilton, Mya Winkler and Layne Kearns each had 11 kills, Jenna Guisinger had 18 digs, and Taryn Searle had 35 assists. For Stevensville, Daphne Engel had 20 kills, Shilo McLain Lampi had four blocks, Emmy Kopsa had 19 digs, and Sophie Berning had 34 assists.  

Hamilton traveled to Butte Central on Thursday, September 29th and won, 3-0. Then on Saturday, October 1st, they hosted Dillon, a team that beat them 3-2 earlier in the season, and got a huge victory, winning 3-1 (28-26, 22-25, 25-11, 25-14).

Stevensville played at Corvallis on Thursday, September 29th and won, 3-2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-12, 15-11). Corvallis took an early two sets lead, but Stevensville stormed back, winning the final three sets to get the victory. For Stevensville, Daphne Engel had 19 kills, Shilo McLain Lampi had four blocks, Emmy Kopsa had 14 digs, and Sophie Berning had 40 assists. For Corvallis, Meredith Buhler and Tylin Sorensen each had six kills, Laila Smart had 11 blocks, Olivia Lewis had 23 digs, and Vivian Potter had 10 assists. 

Stevensville hosted Butte Central on Saturday, October 1st and won in another five-set match, 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 27-25, 19-25, 15-13). 

Corvallis played Frenchtown on Tuesday, September 27th and lost, 0-3.

Florence-Carlton traveled to Arlee on Wednesday, September 28th and won, 3-1 (15-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22). For Florence, Maddie Potter had three aces, Elise Schneiter had 11 kills, Olivia Coulter had 10 assists, and Ella Goeltz had 13 digs.
