Hamilton defeats Corvallis in volleyball

The volleyball teams of Corvallis and Hamilton squared off in an all valley matchup on Tuesday, September 20 in Hamilton. Hamilton continued their strong play and won in three straight sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-19. Hamilton got strong overall play from setter Taryn Searle, outside hitters Layne Kearns and Aurie Duncan, and middle hitter Mya Winkler. For Corvallis, Olivia Lewis had seven kills, Vivian Potter had three aces, Meredith Buhler had three blocks, and Jessica Saturday had 21 digs. Corvallis hosted a tough Dillon squad on Thursday, Sept. 22 and lost, 0-3. Dakota Powell had 23 digs and Laila Smart had six kills in the loss.

Stevensville beat Frenchtown 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16) on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Daphne Engel led the way with 18 kills and 14 digs, and Sophie Berning had 39 assists. On Thursday, Sept. 22, they lost a hard fought match to Dillon 2-3 (26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25, 13-15). Tilli Danczyk had seven kills, Shelby Coleman had five aces, and Engel had 21 digs and 21 kills. Then on Saturday, Sept. 24, Stevensville defeated East Helena 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-15). Olivia Cannon had five aces and Emmy Kopsa had seven digs.

Florence-Carlton hosted Plains on Tuesday, Sept 20, and won 3-0 (25-4, 25-17, 25-5). Maddie Potter had six aces, Elise Schneiter had 15 kills, and Olivia Coulter had 14 assists and seven digs. On Thursday, Sept. 22, they played at Anaconda and won a tough match 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-15, 15-10). Ava Philbrick had 13 kills and three blocks, Maggie Schneiter had 16 assists, and Ella Goeltz had 17 digs.
