Is American unhappiness because of spiritual poverty from lacking that “Old-Time-Religion?”
Early Americans had a common culture from Biblical preaching and open, well-used family Bibles which even children read.
People identified themselves as God’s people. Government was never substitute god, nor even “Big Brother.”
Now it’s church closings, Bibles unused, and little seeking for God’s directions and blessings.
We’ve learned godless socialist dictatorships never work for the people’s advantage. The Bible says. “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” – That’s true; and, they smell rotten (Matt 7:16).
Our coins declare “In God we trust.” Wouldn’t Americans find themselves happier if we did?
Bill Stroud says
Early Americans…..really? Better bone up on your history (sans bible) to learn who the early Americans truly were.
Gomez says
“The fact that a believer is happier than a non-believer is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. The happiness of credulity is a cheap and dangerous quality of happiness, and by no means a necessity of life.”
George Bernard Shaw,
