August 17, 2022 by Editor

Robert (Rob) W. Hewitt, age 72, of Corvallis, ended his life after his battle with depression on Friday, August 5, 2022.

Rob was a Montana native, born and raised in Victor. He graduated from Victor High School, class of 1968. He joined the Air Force in 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1976 with active Reserve duty until 1978. During his service he trained as a Precision Measuring Equipment Special and was stationed in Aurora CO Lowry AFB, Wichita KS McConnell AFB and Taiwan. Rob and family relocated for his work in the electronic industry; Belgrade, Bozeman, and then to Scottsdale AZ in 1984. In 2004, Rob switched careers to a Registered Respiratory Therapist. He worked at Renown Health Center in Reno NV in 2005, was Employee of the Year in 2013, and retired in 2018. He returned to the Valley, bought a home in Corvallis to share with sister Donna.

Rob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed kayaking, hiking, golf and line dancing. He loved singing and was in a Barbershop Choir. He was a fan of babies, dogs and Neil Diamond.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Doris Hewitt of Victor. Thanks to them, he was a lifelong Democrat.

He is survived by his daughters, Robbi (Hewitt) (Woodinville WA) and Eva (Hewitt) Reed (Hamilton MT); grandsons Sam and Eli Reed (Seattle, WA) and granddaughters Alora and Aubrey Reed (Hamilton, MT); sisters Donna Copenhaver (Corvallis, MT) and Marion Hewitt (San Francisco, CA); brothers Tom Hewitt (New York, NY) and Pat Hewitt (Fargo, ND).

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), PO Box 49104, Baltimore MD 21297. If you or a loved one are in crisis, call the Montana 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or text “MT” to 741741.
