Republicans don’t

August 2, 2022 by Guest Post

by Linda Schmitt, Corvallis

Republicans don’t support veterans. Witness their vote against the Bill to cover toxic effects of burn pits. Burn pits are used in war scenarios, not in some bland field in Nebraska. It’s a wartime situation. Republicans won’t protect your son or grandson when it matters.

Republicans don’t protect children or mothers – unless they aren’t born yet. As soon as a child is born, Republicans look the other way. They cut funds for health, welfare and every other thing, including schools. So welcome, baby girl or boy. Hope your Mommy & Daddy are financially secure. If not, well, welcome to a life of poverty.

Republicans don’t care about public lands. Witness Gianforte, Rosendale and Daines as they peddle state lands to anyone with a buck. So much for your hiking, camping, fishing and stunning treasure of Montana’s public lands. “Public,” to a Republican, means “Me and my buddy who have the bucks.” That’s dollars, not does.

Still want to be a Republican? Do yourself and everyone else a favor this time. Vote Democrat. You’ll be glad you did.

    Clark,

In an intelligent world where people really research, listen and don’t fall into cult mentality, it wouldn’t even be a question about whether to vote Democrat or Republican. Intelligent people would ideally vote based on facts, (independence PLEASE!) research, the greater good for all people and our communities.

Unfortunately, the “Root” is full of people on BOTH SIDES that refuse to research, listen and put their community and the good of mankind first. It’s all about egos, who is “right or wrong” (who believes in the best fairy tales), and division. I’ve never experienced such outright nonsense out of sheer ignorance anywhere else in the US as that which is so prevalent in Ravalli County. Not everyone though and we have beloved friends there on both sides. We hunt, are gun owners, live off the grid on solar by choice and make decisions based not on the idiot talking tv heads but on solid research. Perhaps people in the “Root” should try reading more and pull themselves away from being armchair Fox News and CNN “experts” and begin being neighbors and human beings who care about the good of the whole. Frankly, aren’t we all freakin tired of the hate, fighting and false narratives that bombard us every day? When did we stop thinking for ourselves, listening to our friends, family and neighbors (whether we agreed or not at least we cared enough to try to understand and listen). Aren’t you tired of the hate, fear and outright rage? I sure am and I hear you Clark and so appreciate your reply and comments regarding this important topic.

We lived there for 7 years and there are some truly amazing people on both sides of the political parties that seem to dominate the entire narrative there. As a 4th generation Montana native, the current hate based, conspiracy theory disillusioned people there are baffling to me. What happened to the Montana I knew and loved? People took care of each other no matter what.

We lived next door to neighbors in Hamilton of whom we couldn’t have been more opposite in political views but completely aligned in humanity and taking care of each other . We will cherish and honor them always for their friendship and caring which we all decided to put above the petty arguments that seem to dominate EVERY SINGLE MOMENT AND CONVERSATION IN RAVALLI COUNTY. EVEN TO THE PONT WHERE YOU COULDN’T GO TO THE GROCERY STORE, YOUR MAILBOX OR EVEN WEED YOUR GARDEN WITHOUT SOMEONE CONFRONTING YOU WANTING TO KNOW YOUR “political stance.” How pathetic! There’s so much more to life. It is possible. What the hell is wrong with people there who have willingly lost sight of what is truly important in life and ultimately, our survival and care for each other? We all need to, at the end of the day, care, drop our egos at the door and do what we can to help one another. Otherwise, we are all lost to ignorance and hatred for that which we refuse to even try to seek to understand..

I hear you Clark and so appreciate your stance and input . It’s unfortunate that our country is so divided that is all about “Dems or Republicans.” We need to get back to the people and for the people.

Thank you for your honest and honorable reply to this article. It’s refreshing to hear voices of reason vs voices laced with judgement, hate and fear based biases. Unfortunately for the Bitterroot Valley, it will continue to be a place of division and people not willing to try to even listen or understand and work together. Such a beautiful valley but a place of people that have such blinders on to the point that they will lose sight of the importance of going back to being caring humans. Heartbreaking and sad.

Linda, do you ride a bike, or rely on public transportation? Gas @ $5.00+/gal. and Diesel @ $6.00+/gal. since Joe fell off the bike. WOW! The Veteran bill had million’s of dollars marked in it for “Climate Change”. Seems to me the Democrats put the Veteran’s bill in jeopardy by adding $$ to the hoax. Republican’s oversaw the error in spending and would not support it. After Tester’s tizzy, they changed their spending habits to get approval. Abortion? Sorry your still upset the Fed. handed those decisions back to the states. “Power to the People” Thumbs up!!

      A lie.

Kevin: Do your research and fact checking. The government and Biden DO NOT SET THE GAS/FUEL PRICES! The gas companies are making billions in profits (maybe you’d benefit if you’d have your portfolio manager invest in them to help your retirement fund instead of pointing the finger in the wrong direction). Gas companies are totally ripping us all off. Prove with real facts how our current government and Biden are responsible before you recklessly put out your rhetoric. I will await your response but please, if you cannot provide FACTS, don’t waste my or others time with your blathering.

The GOP just voted against a cap on Insulin prices also. Better Health care is not their thing. The GOP are not leaders for the people, they are leaders for the billionaires.

They are all leaders for billionaires. Good grief it’s a dog and pony show right or left, it’s one big uniparty playing good cop/bad cop with the cheerleading minions both believing their party is right. They’re all crooked, all on the take, none of them give a damn about the people.

The two sides are not the same. To insist that they are is simply a way of avoiding personal responsibility for not making a pragmatic choice in the voting booth. In other words, the candidate you support can never be blamed for anything if the candidate you vote for never wins an election.

“…Do yourself and everyone else a favor this time. Vote Democrat. You’ll be glad you did.”

    Well, I don’t know about that…..

It’s really not what the GOP dosen’t do that bothers me. It’s what they do that is the crime.

I have always looked our our two party system as a vote for The Mafia or a vote for a street gang. Concrete boots or a mugging, your choice.

The lesser of two evils, is always the better choice.

    Vote Democrat!
