The City of Hamilton will host open houses for its draft comprehensive plan update on Tuesday, June 14th at Hamilton City Hall – 223 South 2nd Street. The City seeks feedback on updated policy for land use, housing, public infrastructure, and a host of other topics. Community members are encouraged to attend, learn about the plan update, and provide feedback.
City staff will also host a series of presentations and listening sessions around town throughout the month of June. The draft comprehensive plan will also be available on the project website for review and comment. More information on the draft plan, and a full schedule of events, can be found at www.EnvisionHamilton.com.
“The comprehensive plan steering committee has been working hard for more than a year on this update, and they’re excited to have the draft plan for review,” said City Planner Matthew Rohrbach. “We’ve had a lot of community feedback through surveys, workshops, and community meetings. That feedback fed directly into the draft plan, and this round of public engagement will guide additional amendments prior to adoption.”
The draft plan under review will update the City’s existing growth policy, adopted in 2015. The plan provides guidance for how the City grows in the future and addresses issues surrounding planning for and addressing growth related impacts.
“The steering committee has done incredible work with plan update process. Some policies involve hard conversations about growth and housing, and we’ve had many thoughtful discussions with community members,” Rohrbach said.
The draft plan is open for public comment for the next month. The final plan will be considered for City Council adoption before the Fall.
June 14th open houses are 8-10am, 12-2pm, and 4-6pm on June 14th, followed by discussion at the Committee of the Whole meeting at 7pm. All will take place on the second floor of Hamilton City Hall at 223 South 2nd Street.
