While it is true that “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” as Jerry Esmay said, some guns enable one person to kill a lot of other people in a very short period of time.

In Tuesday’s hearing, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) — vice chair of the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack — played police transmissions that described people carrying firearms near the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., where Trump held his rally the morning of Jan. 6.
“Three men walking down the street in fatigues carrying AR-15s… at 14th and Independence,” a voice says in one transmission.
“White male… stock of an AR-15,” someone can be heard saying in another recording. “Green fatigues… Glock-style pistols in their waistband.”
“Elevated threat in the trees… American flag face mask… weapon on the right-side hip,” a third transmission says.

“Lonnie Coffman of Alabama was found with multiple weapons in his vehicle and on his person. Coffman’s truck, which he had parked in the vicinity of the Capitol on the morning of Jan. 6, was packed with weaponry, including a handgun, a rifle and a shotgun, each loaded, according to court documents. In addition, the truck held hundreds of rounds of ammunition, several large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, a crossbow with bolts, machetes, camouflage smoke devices, a stun gun and 11 Molotov cocktails. When Coffman was detained, questioned and searched, police found two more handguns on his person. None of the weapons were registered, documents state. Coffman pleaded guilty and was sentenced in April to 46 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
Guy Reffitt of Texas was charged with bringing a handgun onto Capitol grounds. Court documents showed that Reffitt, reported to be a member of the Three Percenters militia group, told his family he brought his gun with him and that he and others “stormed the Capitol.” A jury found Reffitt guilty of five felony charges in March, and he remains detained pending sentencing.
Christopher Michael Alberts of Maryland also brought his handgun onto Capitol grounds. An officer saw that Alberts had a gun on his hip and alerted fellow officers. When Alberts tried to flee, officers detained him and recovered the loaded handgun, along with a separate magazine. He has been indicted on ten felony counts.”

YEP and feet and fists also made the list as some of the most used “weapons” to kill someone.

The FBI did NOT say that no one brought guns to the Capitol. It said that they did not confiscate any firearms. Followers of the Trump cult most certainly came armed with deadly weapons;

If you choose to research the facts rather than read your headlines, here is what you would fine. This is the site for the FBI Numbers you reference.
https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls
2019, Total Firearms 10,258, Hand guns 6,368, Firearms not stated 3,281, Rifles 364, Shotguns 200, Other Guns 45 Knives or other cutting instruments 1,476

Research the facts? You simply posted what I said. Rifles make up a small portion on homicide deaths, less then knives and even fist.
Alan says
The thread is about the AR-15 rifle no?
Gomez says
There is a reason that the insurrectionists took AR-15s to the Capitol, and not pocket knives.

THEY DIDN’T TAKE AR15S or firearms TO THE CAPITOL -GOMEZ – STOP LISTENING TO CNN OR OTHER WORTHLESS TV STATIONS. And AS USUAL YOU ARE BEHIND THE NEWS:
In an exchange with Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, FBI’s Sanborn disclosed that precisely zero firearms were found among the hundreds of people who made their way into the Capitol that day (1:08 on the following video).
Johnson: How many firearms were confiscated in the Capitol or on Capitol grounds during that day?
Sanborn: To my knowledge, we have not recovered any on that day from any other arrests at the scene at this point, but I don’t want to speak on behalf of Metro and Capitol police, but, to my knowledge, none.
Johnson: So nobody has been charged with an actual firearms weapon in the Capitol or on Capitol grounds?
Sanborn: Correct. The closest we came was the vehicle that had the molotov cocktails in it and when we did a search of that vehicle later on there was a weapon, but…
Johnson: How many shots were fired that we know of?
Sanborn: I believe the only shots that were fired were the ones that resulted in the death of the one lady.
Bill Stroud says
Yes, something should be done about all the ‘school mass knifings’ and ‘school mass sluggings’ and (for you Helen) ‘school mass stompings’. Oh, my bad…the thread IS about the AR 15.
Helen Sabin says
IT doesn’t matter whether the opinion was about AR 15’s. The point is that the FBI said NO weapons were brought to the Jan 6 event ….or did you miss that part?
Bill Stroud says
Yes, I did miss it….it wasn’t in the original thread. Geeez!

According to the FBI violent homicide statistics (2020) knives were involved in 2.5x as many deaths as all rifles. That’s all rifles not just the ar15. Context.
