Victor
The Victor boys played Philipsburg on Tuesday, February 8th and cruised to a 63-42 victory. Jordan Mclane had a big game with 23 points, followed by Caleb Rockwood with 16, Carson Varner with 13, and Brandon Bowen with eight. They hosted St. Regis on Friday, a team that beat them 62-39 earlier in the year, and lost a close game, 34-39. On Saturday, they defeated Lincoln, 42-22. Carson Varner led with 19 points, Jordan Mclane had eight, Caleb Rockwood had six, and River Lyman added four. The Victor girls played a tough Philipsburg team on Tuesday, February 8th and lost, 14-48. Haylie Tolley led with five points, Madi Bahr had four, and America Baugus added two.
Hamilton
The Hamilton boys and girls hosted Butte Central on Saturday, February 12th. The boys played first and Butte Central, the No. 3 ranked Class A team in the latest 406mtsports.com poll, defeated Hamilton, 60-47. The Broncs were down by 13 at halftime and were never able to come back. Asher Magness had a big night with 25 points, Eli Taylor had 11, and Tyson Rostad added seven. In the second game, the Hamilton girls ground out a 57-50 victory. The game was close late in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Broncs were clutch down the stretch to pull out the victory. Layne Kearns led with 20 points, Taryn Searle had 11, Mya Winkler had nine, and Alexis Brenneman added eight.
Darby
The Darby boys played Two Eagle River on Tuesday, February 8th and won convincingly, 83-44. Sawyer Townsend and Preston Smith led the way with 16 points apiece, Hooper Reed had 13, and Jackson Hudley added nine. They traveled to Drummond on Saturday in a contest for the top seed in the upcoming 13C district tournament. Darby fell behind early, couldn’t make a comeback, and lost, 43-59. Preston Smith led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Hooper Reed with 12, and Sawyer Townsend with eight.
The Darby girls played Two Eagle River on Tuesday, February 8th and won handily, 50-28. Amber Anderson led Darby with 19 points, Makena Hawkinson had 10 points, Kylie Schlapman had seven, and Kimmie Berry added five. They went to Drummond on Saturday and lost, 16-44. Makena Hawkinson, Sierra Reed and Amber Anderson all had four points, and Sammy Shull and Hadassah Wilson each added two.
Florence
The Florence-Carlton boys, ranked No. 4 in the 406mtsports.com Class B poll, visited Anaconda on Thursday, February 10th. They outscored Anaconda 40-10 in the second and third quarters en route to a 62-27 victory. Beau Neal led with 16 points, Patrick Duchien had 10, Jace Pederson had nine, and Blake Shoupe and Ethan Alexander each had six. On Saturday, they traveled to Class A Frenchtown, the No. 5 ranked Class A team. The Falcons fell behind early, trailing 21-39 at halftime, and were never able to mount a charge to get back in the game. Beau Neal had a big night with 28 points, Blake Shoupe chipped in 11, and Aiden Wayne and Levi Posey each added five.
The Florence-Carlton girls, the No. 10 ranked Class B team, traveled to face No. 6 Anaconda on Thursday and fell, 59-50. Trista Williams led Florence with 14 points, Kasidy Yeoman had 12, Josie Lewis had nine, and Olivia Coulter added six. On Saturday, they visited Class A Frenchtown. Florence outscored them 21-9 in the third quarter to propel them to a 50-32 victory. Kylie Kovatch led the scoring with 14 points, Kolbi Wood had 13, and Kasidy Yeoman added eight.
