I’d like to take a moment to correct a statement in Mr. Jerry Esmay’s letter in this week’s Star. It was not President Biden who negotiated a withdrawal date for the United States in Afghanistan, as you suggested. It was actually Mr. Trump who negotiated that the U.S. would withdraw in May 2021. He did so during his time in office. I think it should be noted that a devastating debacle was a guarantee, regardless of who signed the papers given the situation. President Biden postponed it, and all sides lost lives in the withdrawal. This may be a case in which the best we can say is “we did the best we could.”

Trump would have made SURE all Americans and Green Card Holders and those who helped us were out along with their families and the valuable equipment left behind would be either removed or disabled. He isn’t a fool like BIDEN who is an incompetent, feckless fool and a controlled puppet. Nor would he have given up the only airbase in the middle east that is tremendously important to access all the countries around the area. The idiots who voted for Biden – a man who was clearly mentally ill and is deteriorating quickly -could have done a better job than Biden’s total failure. Biden has screwed up everything he has touched since he came into the White House and created a humanitarian crisis that is outrageous.
