John A. Peters

Stevensville – John A. Peters Jr., 87 of Three Mile passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. John was born on October 22, 1933 in San Rafael, California the son of the late John Sr. and Helen Peters. 

John married the love of his life Patricia in Eureka, Calif., on April 7, 1962. They raised six children, John III, Debbie Lee, Jean Marie, Lisa Ann, Terri Lynn, and Cathy Eileen. The family moved to Washington state in 1967 and to Montana in October 1973.

John was raised in Eureka, California where he was a commercial fisherman with his dad in his youth. He began working in the forest products industry where he transitioned from logging to plywood manufacturing. He worked for Champion International for 40 years in Eureka California, Grays Harbor Washington, Seattle Washington, and finally retiring as the Bonner Plywood manager in 1995. John enjoyed hunting, gardening, golf, fishing, camping and spending time with family.

He is survived by his children; son John III; daughter Debbie (Richard), Jean (Johnny), Lisa (David), Terri (Eric), Cathy (Joseph); grandchildren, Jamie (Kurt), Kevin (John), Christopher (Kristine), Heather (Robert), Shauna (David), Levi (Elizabeth), Brianne (George), Deirdre (Adam), Charlien, Jessica (Jeff), Amanda (Ed), and Katy (Dewey); several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; brothers in laws Richard, Douglas (Sharon). John was predeceased by his wife Pat in 2011, his parents and his five brothers and sisters. 

John enjoyed being involved in the Three Mile School lunch program, Three Mile Community Center, and supporting Pantry Partners.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Set Free Church 101 Anns Lane, Lolo Montana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pantry Partners, 3614 Alc Way, Stevensville, MT 59870, Three Mile Community Senior Center, 4433 Sunnyside Cemetery Rd. Stevensville, MT 59870. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
