The “SCAVENGERS”

February 5, 2021 by Guest Post

My wife and I have been trying desperately to get our COVID vaccinations but with no success. Today a friend told me that if I call a certain number, I could get on a list where they would call us if they have a cancellation or extra vaccine left over in a bottle. I quickly called and asked to get on that list and they said YES…but there is no guarantee! I feel that we are living in a third world country, running from place to place almost begging to just get on a list to get a shot that could save our lives.

NPR radio referred to people like my wife and I as “Scavengers” today, a term used to identify citizens who hover around waiting for someone else to cancel their appointment or for there to be extra vaccine left in the bottle that we could use.

And now they inform us that the vaccine may not be effective against the new South African Strain…what a mess we are in!

Maybe your lives are not in danger. Maybe you will not die from the Covid “thing”. Maybe you have believed a lie. Maybe you ought to take a step back and realize that the immediate danger is not from the virus, but from the reaction to it, resulting in widespread fear and panic. OMG, I am going to die! I’m going to be sick and then I’m going to die!

Well, yes, you will–one way or another. The only absolutely certain thing about life is that it is going to end someday for all of us. You should be spending your time and energy preparing to meet that day instead of worrying about something which has a very small chance of affecting you in any noticeable way.

“For dust thou art and to dust thou shalt return…” (Genesis 3:19)
