On Friday, November 20th, the United States saw 195,000 new cases of COVID-19, a record of new cases in a single day. More than 12 million Americans have contracted the virus since the pandemic began. More than 250,000 Americans have died.
Donald Trump is still the President of the United States. I will not address his efforts, or lack thereof, in leading the fight against COVID-19. I will only address the last couple of days.
President Trump attended the first hour of the opening session of this year’s virtual Group of 20 Summit on Saturday, November 21st. Following the opening session, the summit hosted an event on pandemic preparedness. President Trump did not attend the meeting, having left for his golf club when the meeting began.
As I write this, our state of Montana has 54,542 total cases of COVID 19, with 15,594 new cases reported in just the last two weeks. 604 Montanans will not be celebrating Thanksgiving with their families this year.
Roger Mitchell says
Oh, dear! We’re all going to die and it is all due to Donald Trump’s unwillingness to do anything about it.
How many Montanans did not celebrate Thanksgiving with their families last year? Or in 2018? 2017? Why should we expect anything differently this year? After all, death is a part of life and, in fact, is the only guaranteed aspect of it. We are all going to die and playing politics will not change that in the slightest.
Get over it.
