To my fellow senior citizens

October 20, 2020 by Guest Post

By Diane Thomas-Rupert, Stevensville

You and I have been around long enough that “we know a thing or two, because we have seen a thing or two.” We know that Montanans are thoughtful, caring, concerned about their neighbors and a whole bunch more positive adjectives. This year’s slate of candidates for office on one side of the aisle both nationally and in Montana do not possess the characteristics just described. They all echo each other in their support of selling off public lands, they want to destroy affordable care and Medicaid expansion, they are for ending Social Security and Medicare, they support using “herd immunity” to solve the pandemic and on it goes. We know this is true because in various ways they have stated their support for the present administration.

In other words, they do not care about Montanans and especially not Montana Seniors. They do not appear to think for themselves, no, not one of them; not Gianforte, Daines, Rosendale, all the way to Manzella. Why would we vote for these people who have agendas that are not helpful to Montana?

Do you really want a Governor, a US Senator or a Montana State Senator who will support selling off public lands? Think about that, especially in light of the fact that our present Governor, Steve Bullock, just won a legal battle to help save public lands. Cooney has worked with Governor Bullock on these issues. Margaret Gorski just retired from a professional life working to preserve and protect our public lands. Which candidates do you want to represent all of us?

Steve Bullock supports affordable care and Medicaid expansion with his bipartisan effort which helped save rural hospitals. He has a track record as Attorney General and as Governor of doing things to help seniors and all Montanans.

What is Steve Daines’ track record? Well, it is voting four times to repeal the Affordable Care Act and supporting the case to declare the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. How does that help Montanans? He has voted many times to support things that are not helpful to Montana, just look up his voting record. Oh, and Steve Daines’ big accomplishment is getting an “A” from the NRA. It has been revealed they use their membership funds to provide their leaders with mansions, yachts and other things that most of us can’t afford. When receiving a grade from the NRA and what they have become, an “F” is a good grade. I am going with the people graded “F”.

Once again everyone; when you vote please think about the things that really matter to you and the future of Montana. We love Montana and the future we leave for others matters. Stay safe and be sure to vote.

Excellently said Diane. I sincerely hope and pray that saner minds vote against these imported, money hungry self interested carpet baggers
