The Corvallis Blue Devils defeated the Lady Yellowjackets of Stevensville in four sets last Thursday night although each of the games were close. Stevensville won the first game, but then Corvallis came back to win the match.
In the first game, Aliyah Anderson led her Lady ‘Jackets with serving and a few well placed kills to a 25-19 win. Corvallis’ Katelyn Behner led a Blue Devil rally that fell just short of the win.
Game 2 was also very close. For each point won by Corvallis, Stevensville came back to score their own points. Stevensville’s Anderson tied the game up at 16 all with her serving but then Paige Colaprete served up four points and gave Corvallis the edge. Kennedy Praast had a huge kill for Stevensville but a block by Madeline Gilder on the next play ended the game with Corvallis winning 25-21.
The final two games were close with some of the volleys going for quite a while. Jenna Jordan, Gilder and Madison Lewis made a formidable front to get the ball over for the Blue Devils but Praast and Anderson found a few holes and kept Stevensville moving. Corvallis won 25-15. Corvallis won the final game, 25-17. Brooklyn Powell served up eight points to give the momentum to the Blue Devils.
