Golf teams hit the courses

The Class A high school golf season began with a bang last week with three tournaments in three days. Hamilton went to Butte on August 17, Dillon on the 18th, and Anaconda on the 19th. 

Corvallis golfers Macee Greenwood and Luke Schlimgen took top honors at the Butte Central tournament on the 17th. Greenwood shot a 67 to take the win. That was 17 strokes lower than Hamilton’s Ali Rose who finished second. Jasmine Oyler of Stevensville was third with an 88. Sami Knapp was fourth with 93, and Signee Storrud was sixth with 100. Both are from Corvallis. Hamilton’s Fern Stewart and Brooklyn Brown shot a 109 and a 110 respectively for seventh and eighth place and Morgan Gurney rounded out Hamilton’s scoring with a 124. 

Schlimgen finished with a 72, one stroke better than Hamilton’s Tanner Hanson. Mason Anderson of Corvallis was third with a 79. Ashton Pintok, another Blue Devil, finished in 10th with a score of 91. Hamilton’s Max Cianflone and Jackson Heath each shot an 82 to tie for fourth place. Carson Richie tied with Trace Gardner of Dillon for sixth with an 82 and Cole Dickamore was ninety with a 90.

On Wednesday, Hamilton traveled to Anaconda to play on the Old Works Course. Laurel took the boys team scoring with a 329 while Hamilton had 344 and Frenchtown shot a 351. 

Hanson and Carson Hackmann of Laurel tied for first with a score of 75. The Hamilton girls won the team scoring by 10 strokes. They finished with 421 strokes while Laurel had 431. Rose finished second with a score of 87.

Boys

Team scores: 1, Laurel 329; 2, Hamilton 344; 3, Frenchtown 351.

Girls

Team scores: 1, Hamilton 421; 2, Frenchtown 431.
