The Bitterroot Bucs traveled to Hamilton on Friday night for another inter valley match up. Jake Scully was on the mound for the Bucs and pitched until the bottom of the sixth. Although he didn’t throw many strike outs, the Bucs’ defense held the Red Sox to only five runs in the 13-5 win.
Drew Scully got the scoring going with the bases loaded in the third inning and only one out. He knocked a long ball over left field for a double and scored two runners. Zack Christopherson followed with a long ball to left field that scored Brenden Schneiter.
The Bucs continued to play tough defense but the Red Sox got on the board in the fourth inning when Dillon Pilkerton walked and Mack Wright got a hit to get on base and move Pilkerton up. Pilkerton and Wright went on to score but tough fielding by the outfield ended the Red Sox’s run. In the top of the fifth, two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases for the Bucs’ without any outs. Two more walks scored those players. The inning finished with the Bucs up 12 to 2. The Red Sox got some momentum going in the fifth inning with Mitchell Spinetta, after being hit by a pitch, making it home off a Mack Wright stand up double that scored Spinetta and Pilkerton.
The second game of the night didn’t start until almost 9:30 and finished about midnight. Christopherson pitched four and a third innings striking out six batters and only allowing four hits. Colby Kohlman has a double and two RBIs. Schneiter also had a double and two RBIs. Christopherson and Johnny Lineback each had two RBIs.
