In response to David Welch’s contribution in the April 8 Opinion section of the Bitterroot Star, “An Unbelievable President,” pointing fingers at the President or other public officials accomplishes nothing more than creating more discomfort to our ongoing COVID-19 crisis. In reality, it took Congress two weeks to pass the Emergency Bill, and why, because of all of the “Trailer Bills” from both parties that were attached to make sure that they would be passed along with the Emergency Stimulus Package. Funding for the Kennedy Center, funding for unions, give me a break.
Now instead of pointing fingers, how about we all pull together as a nation as we did with 911 and work to solve the problem. Politics aside, this is an opportunity for unity, compassion and understanding. You want to complain, that is your right, but remember we are still the greatest and strongest nation in the world. We will overcome this crisis and be stronger for it. Please try to be supportive of the efforts being accomplished and pitch in and help rather than complaining about what has or hasn’t been done. Become part of the solution, not the problem.
David Welch says
In one sentence you admonish others to not “point fingers” at “the President and other public officials”. Then in your very next sentence you criticize Congress. Just for fun, look up the word “hypocrisy”.
