The Lady Falcons picked up a couple of wins over Class A teams over the weekend. Florence defeated Hamilton, 38-24, on Thursday, and then topped Stevensville, 40-25, on Saturday. With only one senior starter on the team, Florence is in a rebuilding state according to coach Duane Zeiler.
“You saw who was consistent tonight was our older girl. Emma was the one consistent player that’s been there starting since she was a sophomore and you can see that tonight.”
Zeiler went on to say “the younger girls, when they put it together, they really have it.”
Zeiler gave credit to Stevensville’s defense. “They run a lot of junk defense at us which kind of kept us out of our rhythm. They know what we do and they take away our screen and rolls. They did a good job of doing that.”
Kasidy Yeoman and Kolbi Wood, both sophomores, have taken over the point position and really push the ball down the floor on offense. Yeoman seems tireless when running the floor and Wood will come out of no where to steal a pass. Add in 5’11” freshman Trista Williams who is a force in the paint and the future looks good for the Lady Falcons.
