Florence – Johnny R. Lay, 89, of Florence passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Marcus Daly Hospital. He was born January 14, 1930 in Hartford Arkansas, the son of the late Jake Lay and Nora Lay. He married Arloene Biltoft on October 12, 1966 and they had a wonderful life together.
Johnny was raised in Hartford, Arkansas and later moved to Billings, Montana with his family. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1954 at White Sands, New Mexico Proving Grounds where he installed telephone lines. He worked for AT&T as a supervisor until his retirement.
He belonged to the Masons and the Rainmaker Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. He enjoyed flying when he was younger.
Johnny is survived by his wife Arloene Lay, Florence, Montana, daughter Virginia Duchesne, Prescott Valley, Arizona, his stepchildren Maxine Donahue, Florence, Steve Tallent, Florence, Julie Hitchcock, Arlee, Montana, and nephew Rondy Lay, Florence.
Johnny wrote: “I was born, I lived, I died. During my life I seen it all, heard it all, done it all, but in the end, I couldn’t remember it all. I was what I was and that’s all I was, there aint no more, had a good life.”
