The district track meets for Class C were held last week with the top five in each event moving on to divisionals. The Western B and C Divisional will be held at Big Sky this weekend. Teams from the Southwest A will travel to Butte for their chance to move on to state if they haven’t already qualified.
Darby finished third in District 13C in the girls division. Seeley-Swan was first and Clark Fork finished second. Lincoln and Victor finished behind Darby.
Casey Ehmann of Darby and Lily Mercer of Seeley-Swan battled in both the 100 meter race, the 200 meter race, and the 400 meter race. Mercer came out on top in the 100 with a time of 13.32. Ehmann’s time was 13.48. In the 200, Mercer won with a time of 27.33. Ehmann was second with 27.46. In the 400, it was Mercer again, this time with a time of 1:00.47. Ehmann’s time was 1:02.10.
Ehmann won both the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. She is the defending state champion in the 300 hurdles and won by race by almost two-seconds over second place Emmah Baughman of Clark Fork. Ehmann’s time was 48.56. Amber Anderson of Darby was third with 53.89. Ehmann’s time in the 100 hurdles was 16.77, beating out Terra Bertsch of Seeley Swan. Anderson was third with 17.55.
In the distance races, Gracie Lang and Annie Rennaker scored some points. Lang was gifts in the 800 with a time of 2:47.61 and Rennaker followed. Sariah Maughan of Seeley-Swan won the race with a time of 2:25.41. Maughan also won the 1,600 meter race with a time of 5:27.41. Lang finished fourth with 6:19.52 and Rennaker was sixth. Lang finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 13:44.79. Rennaker was fifth. Hannah Ayers of Seeley-Swan won the race with a time of 13:28.43.
Other Darby athletes who placed were Anderson who was fourth in the high jump and fourth in the javelin; Juliet Ryn who was sixth in the long jump, and Laura Rosa who was fourth in the discus. The 4×100 relay team finished fourth and the 4×400 relay team was third.
The Darby boys also finished in third place behind Seeley-Swan and Clark Fork. Donavan Chaffin won the 3,200 going away with a time of 10:49.52. Jesse Shaske of Clark Fork was second with 11:42.52 and Jordan Usher of Darby was third with 11:59.40. Chaffin was third int he 800 with a time of 2:12.07. Shaske won that race with a time of 2:01.73. Shaske also won the 1,600 with a time of 4:53.83. Chaffin’s second place time was 5:01.89.
Tanner Davis was fifth in the 200 for Darby. Jordan Anderson finished third in the 110 hurdles behind Lane Mackie-Wendel of Seeley-Swan. Gabe Smith was third in the 300 hurdles behind Benjamin Tuinstra of Valley Christian. Ethan Foss finished second in the triple jump, losing to Carson Callison of Clark Fork by only seven inches. In the javelin, Nate Samuli won with a throw of 155-5. Colby Mayberry of Darby was second with 148-5, followed by teammates Dalton Hilliard and Gabe Smith. Hilliard threw 142-10 and Smith threw the spear 138-6.
Victor’s Skyler Webberson won the long jump with a leap of 18-2.75. Webberson was second in the high jump with 5-10. Aziah Blotkamp of Lincoln won with a leap of 6-0. Webberson was fourth in the 200 behind Logan Robinson, Dakota Wood and Hunter Shelmerdine, all of Seeley-Swan.
Although Victor’s Cassidy Alber didn’t win any events, she will be moving on in three events. She finished fourth in the 100 meter race. She also took third in the high jump with a jump of 4-6. Terra Bertsch of Seeley-Swan won the event with 4-10. In the long jump, she was second with a leap of 15-4.5. Maggie Jorgensen of Eureka won with 15-10. Bella Scichilone, Alber’s teammate, finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 13-10.25.
In other track action, the Corvallis girls won the Polson ABC Meet. Hamilton was fourth and Stevensville finished eighth. The Blue Devil relay team of Alyssa King, Lauren Criddle, Kailen Herbstritt and Kailee McCready won the 400 relay with a time of 50.65. The Corvallis 1,600 relay team finished second behind Columbia Falls who had a time of 4:09.86. Corvallis’ time was 4:12.53. Kailee McCready won the 300 hurdles with a two-second victory over Flora Jarvis of Columbia Falls. Hannah Hutchison won the high jump with a leap of 5-2. Teammate Maureen Jessop was right behind with an effort of 5-0. Herbstritt won the pole vault with 10-06. Calla Haldorson won the discus with a throw of 140-07.
Hamilton’s Becca Parker won the triple jump with a leap of 34-10. Hamilton’s Brynnli Poulsen was matched against Polson’s Bea Frissell. Polson won the 800 with a time of 2:22.46 while Frissell’s time was 2:23. In the 1,600, Frissell won with 5:05.38 and Poulsen was second with 5:09.84.
The Corvallis boys finished in fourth place and Hamilton finished in sixth place. Logan Lewis of Corvallis won the long jump by 3.5 inches with a leap of 20-5.50. Garrett Brown won the shot put and the discus. His put of 55-08 won while Jacob Campbell of Hamilton finished second with 54-04.50. Brown won the discus with a throw of 140-00 while Campbell was right behind with 138-00. Michael Graves of Hamilton won the javelin with a throw of 168-08.
