Hamilton prevails in Frenchtown

The Hamilton Lady Broncs won three of four games at the Frenchtown Invitational over the weekend despite the rain and the wind. Their fourth game ended in a tie against Columbia Falls.  Senior Jorden Taggart was the pitcher for the tournament. 

The Lady Broncs started off with a formidable foe, Florence, and roughed the Lady Falcons up with a 17-4 win, including a 10-run final inning. Kylie Kovatch was the pitcher for Florence. 

Mikalyn Brickley had three hits for Hamilton including a home run and a double. She had an astounding eight RBIs. Chantele Sission had three RBIs and a double.  Abby Johnson had four hits in knocked in one runner. Olivia Zepeda had a hit and two RBIs. Taggart had one hit with three RBIs. Emily Kinnaman had two hits for Florence including a triple. 

Hamilton’s second game was against Lewistown. The game was scoreless until the third inning when Lewistown had two runs and Hamilton scored five runs. Hamilton held off Lewistown, even though they scored twice more in the sixth inning, to win, 5-4. Sophia Doyle had two hits and an RBI. Brickley had a hit with an RBI. Haley Frey had a double and an RBI. Kyla Shepherd had a triple with the win. 

On Saturday, Hamilton topped Libby, 8-0. Libby had two hits and seven errors. Hamilton had 10 hits and two errors. Maggie Ringer had two hits, a double and a home run. She also had two RBIs. Brickley had a double and two RBIs. Taggart had two RBIs with two hits including a double. Shepherd had a hit and an RBI. 

In the 7-7 tie with Columbia Falls, Ringer again had the hot bat with two hits, including a double and three RBIs. Sission and Frey each had RBIs.

The Stevensville Yellowjackets had a good run at the tournament in Frenchtown, winning three of four games. They defeated Browning, 10-2, in their first game with Joey Oyler as the winning pitcher. Taylor Springer had two hits including a double and an RBI. Claire Montague knocked in two runners. Sienna Morgan had a double and an RBI. 

Lewistown edged out Stevensville, 10-8, in a game that Stevensville made only one error. Lewistown had five errors. Sarah Morrison took the loss for the Yellowjackets. Haley Kampka had four hits. Ashlin Hiller had two hits and two RBIs. Maddie Sims had a hit and two RBIs as did Morrison. 

Stevensville defeated Loyola, 9-3. Loyola lead until the bottom of the fifth when the ‘Jackets scored seven runs. Hiller was the winning pitcher. Paul had two hits with a triple and two RBIs. Springer had two RBIs. Kaylee Berning, Kampka, Hiller, and Newman all had doubles and Newman had two RBIs. 

Newman was the winning pitcher against Columbia Falls. The ‘Jackets scored four runs in the first inning and another nine in the third inning to take the 14-4 win. Paul had two hits with a double and three RBIs. Springer had two hits with a double and an RBI. Sims had two RBIs with a hit and Newman had two hits with an RBI. 

Corvallis lost to Columbia Falls, 11-6, in their first game. Maria Hickey was the Blue Devil pitcher. Sami Knapp, Ashlynn Nixon and Cierra Jessop all had doubles. Knapp had two RBIs. Greenwood, Nixon and Raili Paddock each had an RBI. 

Belgrade topped Corvallis in four innings, 17-2. Krueger was the pitcher for Corvallis. Greenwood had a hit and two RBIs. Corvallis only had one error in the game. 

On Saturday, Loyola edged out the Blue Devils, 4-3, with Krueger in the pitcher’s circle. Nixon, Greenwood, Maria Hickey and Krueger all hit hits. Their second game was against Lewistown. The Eagles topped the Blue Devils, 10-7. Krueger had a home run and an RBI. Hickey and Daphney Reynoso each had hits. Knapp, Hickey, Jessop and Krueger all had RBIs. 

Florence lost both their games on Saturday. Freshman Kylie Kovatch was the pitcher for the Lady Falcons for both games. Belgrade defeated Florence 18-7. Freshmen Kasidy Yeoman and Kolbi Wood, along with Kovatch each had doubles. Yeoman and Wood also had two RBIs each. Polson topped the Lady Falcons, 14-5. Jaidyn Larson had a double and two RBIs. She’s a freshman too. Kinnaman had a single and a double as did senior Dani Zahn. Danara Greer had a hit and two RBIs.
