Darby girls finish second, moving on

The Lady Tigers finished second at the District 13C tournament in Frenchtown after losing to Seeley-Swan on Saturday night, 42-34. Seeley’s speed and height were too much for the scrappy Darby crew. Darby pulled within six points early in the third quarter but that was as close as it would get. Amber Anderson, a freshman, led the Lady Tigers with 12 points.

Seeley – Terra Bertsch 8, Autumn Morse 7, Ashley Miller 4, Kara Good 4, Sariah Maughan 4, Jory Towe 3, Lilly Mercer 8, Lauryn Barns 4. 

Darby – Gracie Lang 2, Casey Ehmann 10, Kimber Schlapman 4, Makenzie Clarke 4, Haley Frey 2, Amber Anderson 12. 

Darby opened their quest to move on with a game against Valley Christian. Senior TeaAnna Rouse broke loose for 19 points in the 53-31 victory. Anderson had 13 in the game.

Valley Christian – Emma Hiltz 12, Kaytlin Kelly 8, Morgan Brewer 6, MacKenzie Dierking 2, Lanaya Gedney 2, A. Kelly 2,Elisa Colwell 1. 

That win put the Lady Tigers into the semi finals against Clark Fork. Clark Fork was the No. 2 seed in the conference going into the tournament and had a bye on Thursday. The game was all tied up at the half but then Darby’s defense clicked in and held the Mountain Cats to only three points in the third quarter. They went on to win, 40-33 and advanced to the championship game.  Casey Ehmann had 13 points to lead all scorers.

Casey Ehmann 13, TeaAnna Rouse 10, Kimber Schlapman 6, Makenzie Clarke 6, Gracie Lang 4, Amber Anderson 1.

Clark Forke – Sorren Reese 10, Madison Mask 8, Zoe Kelsey 4, Emma Baughman 3, Darby Haskins 3, Cassie Green 3, Sophia Krutilla 2.

Darby will play at 8pm at Butte Central in the Western C Divisional. They will take on Manhattan Christian, the No. 1 seed from District 11. 

Victor lost to Lincoln, 45-29, in their opening game of the tournament. Keanna Chavez let the Lady Pirates with 11 points. Victor lost to Clark Fork, 39-26. Bella Scichilone had 10 points to lead Victor.
