Rosendale rhetoric misleading

October 5, 2018 by Guest Post

By Skip Kowalski, Stevensville

“Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Someone should have told that to Matt Rosendale before he tried to smear Jon Tester’s impeccable record of supporting Montana sportsmen.  Rosendale’s record is anything but. As a wildlife biologist and life-long hunter concerned about public lands and access to hunting, I strongly believe Rosendale’s positions are bad for Montana hunters.

Although Rosendale would like you to believe that he promotes sportsmen’s values, Montana hunters won’t forget his earlier support for transferring federal public lands to the state. Now he claims he’s changed his tune, but you wouldn’t know it based on his recent votes on the Land Board. He opposed acquiring the Horse Creek Easement, which will open up permanent public hunting access on 20,000 acres of land in Eastern Montana. No surprises here: Rosendale’s a developer who made a living turning farmland into subdivisions.

Possessing a hunting license isn’t a prerequisite to advocate for sportsmen. Jon Tester has been our biggest supporter in D.C. the entire time he’s been a senator – in years when he’s had a hunting license and in years when he hasn’t.

Actions mean something and I’m supporting Jon Tester, a man who shows up and fights for hunters year after year.
