Stevensville – Robert E. “Bob” Jackson, 89, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home in Stevensville. He was born at home March 22, 1929 in Missoula, to George T. and Berta (McNeil) Jackson.
Robert was raised in the Orchard Homes area in Missoula. He attended Missoula County Schools through the 11th grade. He dropped out of school to help support the family. Together with his parents, the family moved to the Bitterroot Valley to farm in 1947.
Robert married Patricia Rannberg on February 28, 1953 and moved her to the family farm. Along with farming, Bob worked for Howe Creamery of Stevensville, Darby Lumber and finally 31 years at Champion Intermountain Lumber as a molder set-up and then later as a mill wright. During this time he helped to start the 3-Mile Fire Department and volunteered 30 years to keep it going.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia and a brother, Bynum. He is survived by his five children, Robert of Stevensville, Jeff (Allison) of Missoula, Carol (Cliff) Ross of Stevensville, Sheryl (Dan) Pond of Flagstaff, AZ and George (Kaye) of Stevensville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, November 23, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Lone Rock Bible Church with a potluck supper to follow. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
