The Hamilton boys edged Stevensville by eight strokes to win the Western A Divisional tournament Libby over the weekend. Hamilton won with a score of 322. Stevensville had 330. They were followed by Polson (340), Frenchtown (350), Whitefish (353), Butte Central (378), Libby (380), Corvallis (402), Columbia Falls (405), Dillon (436), Ronan (443), andBrowning (468).
Libby’s Ryggs Johnson shot a 65 and won by 10 strokes over second place Matt Hobbs of Polson. Stevensville’s Zel Frost finished third with 77.
Hamilton’s team placed four golfers in the top 10 individual standings. Tristan Hanson shot a 79 which put him in sixth place. Zach Taylor was sixth with 80, Bryce Reed was seventh with 81 and Tanner Hanson was ninth with 82. Brayce Clack shot a 98.
Following Frost for Stevensville was Jacob Watters who shot an 82 to place eighth. Ivan Yazvac shot 83 to finish 11th place. Jayce Painter was 17th with 88 and Sean Craft finished with a 92.
Corvallis’ Luke Schlimgen finished 10th and shot an 83. He was followed by Michael McKay with a 93, Ashton Pintok with 108 and Matt Glenn with 118.
Corvallis freshman Macee Greenwood finished in second place in the girls tournament. She shot a 78, five strokes more than first place finisher Tricia Joyce of Butte Central. The Corvallis girls finished second with 400, just five strokes above Whitefish who had a combined 395. Keelee Storrud was fourth with 94. She was followed by Sami Knapp (101), Signee Storrud (127) and Kaile Patterson (130).
Hamilton was paced by Kelci Martin who played sixth with 96. The team placed fourth behind Whitefish, Corvallis and Polson. The other finishers for Hamilton were Aly Rose (106), Hayley Bender (114), Sophia Doyle (117), and Halie Spear.
The state Class A tournament will be this weekend at the Hamilton Golf Course.
