September 26, 2018 by Jean Schurman

The Florence Lady Falcons maintained their undefeated record with a three-game sweep of Deer Lodge. The Wardens pushed the Falcons in the first game and even took the lead for a bit. But the Lady Falcons rallied and came back to win. It was more of the same in the second game. Florence fell behind by six points before Halle Christopherson stepped up to serve. She served up six points including an ace to take the lead back for Florence. Florence’s Jacklyn Balfourd had a powerful cross court kill for their 24th point and Rilee Mangun finished off the game for Florence.

In game three, Deer Lodge made a run at the Lady Falcons but a kill by Sarah Hopcroft, followed by a block from Mangun and another kill by Shannon Byrne, took the wind out of Deer Lodge’s sails. Florence went on to win, 25-15 and win the match.

“Our goal is always to persevere,” said Florence coach Christie Duchien. “We know it’s never over and we find a way to win the point.”

Byrne had 17 of the team’s 41 kills. She also had 16 digs. The team had a total of 66 digs. Mangun had two blocks. Christopherson had 33 assists and three aces.

Corvallis def. Butte Central 25-17, 25-12, 25-14
