The Ravalli County Coroner’s Office is investigating the drowning of a 28-year-old woman from the Florence area. The female drowned Thursday while recreating on Lake Como. Witnesses at the scene attempted to locate the victim after she reportedly slipped beneath the surface of the water while swimming. The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office, Marcus Daly Ambulance, Darby Marshal’s Office, and Ravalli County Search and Rescue responded to the lake where rescue attempts were made. Search and Rescue personnel located the victim approximately 80 feet from the shore in water 12 to 15 feet deep. Divers recovered the victim, who was declared deceased at the scene.
Ravalli County Sheriff / Coroner Steve Holton said the circumstances are being investigated, and the victim’s name will not be released pending notification of family.
