Florence and Hamilton upset by Belgrade

The defending Class B state champions, Florence, met up against the defending Class A champions, Belgrade, on Saturday in Frenchtown at the Frenchtown Invitational. Each team had two hits but Belgrade scored twice on fielding errors to take the 2-1 win. Florence’s pitcher, Brianna Hoffman, struck out 12 Panthers but the Falcons couldn’t get their bats going. Natalie Dulac had a double and the only RBI for the Falcons. 

Earlier in the day, Belgrade handed Hamilton their first loss of the season with a 19-3 win in four innings. Hamilton scored twice in the first inning and once more in the top of the third but they couldn’t stop the Panthers’ bats. Jorden Taggart was in the circle for the Lady Broncs and took the loss. Tessa Della Silva had two hits and drove in all three runs. Sophia Doyle and Hayley Hudgins also had hits. 

Hamilton topped Lewistown, 11-6, with Sky Lopez pitching. Hamilton had 11 hits and two errors in the game. Caitlin Dillon had three hits including a home run and an RBI. Kelsie Meis also had a home run and an RBI. Della Silva had two hits and two RBIs. Jacey Hinson also had two hits with an RBI. Mikayln Brickley had a triple and an RBI. Mallory McGill had an RBI and a hit. 

On Friday, Hamilton topped Polson, 6-4, on Friday. Jorden Taggart took the win and had four strike outs in the game. Caitlin Dillon went 2-for-4 at bat and had a double. Abby Johnson also went 2-for-4 at bat with a double and an RBI. Maggie Ringer had a double and an RBI in the game which featured 10 stolen bases by the Broncs. 

Hamilton slammed Columbia Falls, 11-2 in their second game of the day in Frenchtown. The Broncs had 10 hits in the game including a triple by Della Silva who had two hits. McGill had a double  and two RBIs and Meis had two RBIs. Sky Lopez was the winning pitcher.

Stevensville split their games on Saturday at Frenchtown. Libby took a one run win over the ‘Jackets, 8-7. Sarah Morrison was the pitcher and took the loss for Stevensville. Syd Paul had two hits including a double and three RBIs. Dani Trangmoe had three RBIs. 

The Yellowjackets defeated Anaconda, 13-10, in their second game of the day. Morrison was the winning pitcher. Taylor Springer had two hits including a double and knocked in four runners. Haley Kampka had a triple with an RBI. Hannah Wasik and Trangmoe also had RBIs. 

On Friday, Ronan defeated Stevensville in a close game, 12-9. Jessie Newman took the4 loss for the Yellowjackets. Syd Paul had two hits including a double and an RBI. Freshman Maddie Sims had a double and two RBIs. Haley Kampka had three RBIs. 

Stevensville lost to Lewistown, 5-4, in another close game on Friday. Sarah Morrison was the losing pitcher. Kampka had a triple and an RBI. Dani Trangmoe had two RBIs. Kaylee Berning had two hits and Claire Montague had one.
