A celebration event for Operation Christmas Child will be held Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. at Lolo Community Church, 11897 Lewis and Clark Drive. This is the kick off the 25th year of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) and will feature guest speaker, Annie Birungi, a member of the Operation Christmas Child National Leadership Team in Uganda.
Annie Birungi is the resource coordinator for the Ugandan team. In this role, she is responsible for training regional coordinators in various aspects of Operation Christmas Child in Uganda including:
budget and planning, accounting for the resources used in Ministry Partner and The Greatest Journey Teacher Training, supporting regional teams in training partners, budgeting/planning for the Ugandan National Leadership Team and record keeping for OCC Team in Uganda.
Annie is a dedicated wife and mother as well as a veteran school teacher of 25 years. Annie and her husband have three children: Isabella, 20, Gideon, 19 and Elizabeth, 13. She is motivated and desires to see Ugandan children be educated so they may succeed in life as well as learning about who Jesus is and having a lifelong relationship with Him.
Annie will share the impact that Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry has had in Uganda over many years. She will share testimony of children, families and communities who have experienced transformed lives through the power of a simple shoebox gift. A tangible gift given in the name of Jesus, the greatest gift of all.
This celebration event is open to all church project leaders as well as the public. The local, regional, national and international details of last year’s shoebox collection season will be shared as well as planned events for 2018. There will be information and volunteers to help folks who are interested in volunteer opportunities with Operation Christmas Child.
In addition to the Saturday event in Lolo, Annie will also teach and speak at Mosaic church in Hamilton on Sunday, April 22 at 8:45 and 10 a.m. The 8:45 session will be an actual teaching demonstration on how they train prospective “The Greatest Journey” (TGJ) discipleship teachers. At 10 a.m. (the regular Sunday service), Annie will share the impact Operation Christmas Child is having in Uganda. Both sessions are open to the public.
